Galileo was still Catholic however, even after was imprisoned. He was basically sent to jail because he talked shit about the Pope for having a different opinion on the matter not because he told everyone the earth was round. Actually, while on his Egyptian Campaign Napoleon collected many ancient relics, many of which were transported to France, so while there isn’t a direct correlation between the two, it would still have been possible to get to Ancient Egypt through Napoleon
