No. Black children/people don't deserve to be treated differently for their color and be told that it isn't attractive. Imagine if someone told him his skin was beautiful throughout his life, who knows how much it would change. Yes, it is upsetting to see a young black man hate himself so badly, but he needs to be helped and realize how ignorant his thoughts are.

As a dark skinned woman, I’ve struggled with this my whole life. It’s sad but true. You just got to LOVE YOURSELF man. Whatever ppl try to use against you, you just have to own who you are and be proud of the skin your in. Im dark skin and let me tell you... it was a mental struggle. I had teachers joke about my skin color. I was always the darkest in my class, and was called tar baby and midnight. Do y'all know what that does to a child? I didn't want children simply because of that. Now im married and can't wait for our cocoa babies to arrive. Love on your kids because the world we make them feel less than. We also can't discount the experience of others by saying its a copout. I was in middle school not wanting kids simply because i didn't want them to be tormented the way i was. I was suicidal and was depressed. No one wants that for their kids.

Honestly....I don't even blame him for wat he said. It's not his fault. The people around him bullied him so bad to the point where he doesn't think he's worthy. He is the product of other people's mentalities. I know somebody reading this has made remarks about someone with his skintone when they were kids. Whether it was callin them "midnight", "charcoal", "burnt", etc. You might not have saw it as a big deal back then, but things like that stick with people. It only took one person to tell me somethin about myself ONE TIME back when I was in 6th grade & from then up until 2 years ago, I was always self conscious about it & hid it. Since, I've stopped hiding...no one has even mentioned it 🤷🏽

I get where Auntie is coming from, but the root of self hate and colorism needs to be addressed, and not just talk down on people. Im dark, and I used to hate myself. Dark skinned people are treated worse than lighter skinned people. Growing up, I was called "Tar Pit", "Blackie", etc... Especially when chris brown and trey Songz hit the scene, dark skinned men were put as a last resort. There needs to be a conversation.

How are you going to call light skin a curse and then condemn someone for hating their skin color? Why do some black people tend to be so inconsistent on whether hate is okay or not okay?
@ChristinaLibra
@ChristinaLibra 5 жыл бұрын
She was just joking as it being a curse because everyone in her family is the same shade. There's no diversity. She didnt mean having lighter skin was an actual curse. Lordt smh

@@ChristinaLibra How is it a joke if she confirmed that she purposefully found a dark man to have a dark baby? Would you have the same reaction if she was dark "joking" about it being a curse and commenting about have too many dark-skinned babies? Spare me, I've seen her other interviews, she was dead serious.
@ChristinaLibra
@ChristinaLibra 5 жыл бұрын
@@amorousg.1673 Yeah I would be upset because light skin people are not put down in society and are viewed as the standard of beauty. If Lunell sees the beauty in dark skin babies (which most black people don't) so much so that she wanted to have one of her own then there's nothing wrong with that. You sound like white people trying to flip racism onto black people when they're called out for their BS and it doesn't work.

@@amorousg.1673 Lightskin people aren’t put down in society, it’s literally incomparable, that’s like comparing a white self hating person to a black self hating person, one stems from an isolated personal experience (white self hater) while the other is most likely stems from society (Black self hater)

Does it matter if the person answering reveals their ignorance? Or can black interviewers only discover the self hatred that lurks within our community. Trust, this idiot has revealed his ignorance to more than just black people so its really a moot point as to what color the person was that provoked him to show his ignorant sorry ass hand.

Yessssss Luenell!!!! I also compliment our BEAUTIFUL darker hued sisters and brothers, SINCERELY! The colorism issue is crazy and unfortunately, very real, and originating from the colonial slavers. It's up to us to bring this shit to a halt, and with a quickness! As Black people, we have a HOST of things to focus on, and just being BLESSED enough to have been given a HEALTHY baby should be good enough.
