Correct me if I’m wrong below, but I believe the Conqueror’s Haki for Luffy and Zoro was golden because they had INFUSED it into their fists/swords. Luffy consciously knows he has Conquerors and learned the natural abilities that come with it, but Zoro was learning more of Armament in the time-skip, which led him to unlock Conquerors Coating subconsciously since he was putting LITERALLY all of his strength and Haki into that one attack. That along with the crazy OP sword Enma, which seems to naturally perform Haki Infusion and Ryou at a VERY high rate and helped with his development.
