Man boss battle themes and Battle themes for RPGs in the 90s was the best! I feel gaming music went a bit more down in quality, sure the tech and stuff got better, but the creativity and hard work and making sure the music hit that feeling just right i feel is gone with new games. Like how many people can remember any Boss battle or battle themes after the year 2003 for any game?

+Dave Strider S Well, there have been the one or other Sequel on Game Boy Advance..I guess it was called "Lufia - The Ruins of Lore" And I guess most likely because Companies like Taito back then just told a story they wanted to tell, expanded it with maybe 1, 2 other titles and then were done telling, not milking a franchise only for moneys sake.
@AJR-zg2py4 жыл бұрын
Main reason: it was released VERY late in the SNES life cycle, when 16-bit was fading out. Also, Lufia 1 was never really huge so the sequel never got much attention. And of course, the game is very buggy in places lol
@randomness49894 жыл бұрын
@@Justforvisit I see alot of ppl saying ruins of lore was the worst and a copycat of another game and I get it BUT CMON I played it And 2 and even 3 fully and I can assure you the copycat game was SO FUN AND FELT like a real adventure,2 was good,well crafted,soundtrack memorable and ok it came before ruins of lore so I would say it was okay,3 was just a joke ,I literally cheesed the whole game playing the dice girl and save loading to 999 dmg one shooting everything,cmb system was just plain dumb,the only thing stood out is the soundtrack in 3 and that's it,and it copied 2 story to the teeth,ruins of lore despite being a COPYCAT was quite enjoyable to me,altho I agree it didn't add anything to the story but imho I wanted a continuation to that game rather than the "and the hero's die in the end for the ppl" generic theme,Also They never said where did the girl that loves maxim go,you cannot find her anywhere on the map.

Limitations breed creativity. And honestly, the SNES' sound chip is just great. It's my favorite sound chip that plays out of a cartridge. If we're talking consoles of the era though, the PC Engine CD definitely had the best sound, but that's only because it was playing out of a CD.

I remember 20 years ago as a kid renting this game at the video store, I was like whooa this looks like a great rpg and the cover art of the box is awesome. This was the time when you rented a game and could see the saved files of other players who played before you. There was that guy at lvl 99 with his final team at the last save monolith in the tower with all the spells and the best gears in the game. I could't help myself to go see the ending before even starting out. Geez I was crying at the end without even knowing the story and character bound. After that, I started my own game and fall in love with it even more. When I found out years later that the begining of the first lufia is the ending of lufia 2....I was like...hey I'm feeling a little less guilty after all haha. Epic rpg from an epic era and I'm playing it again today.

@@cleanwalrus I do, they were wonderfull times. That and the memory cards on ps1 with only 15 saving blocks lol. Many games took like 2-3 blocks for a saves so when the card was full you were sometimes forced to delete other games saves to play a new one. This was arsh times lol but how memorable.

The batteries in my original cart still work. 97 hours on the counter, with several successful runs through the Ancient Cave, except two regular Iris items which are missing. This tune simply rocks. While the regular battle tune goes on my nerves after a while, I cannot get enough from that track. Good thing you can always hear that tune and are never "out of boss battles" like in other RPGs near the end. Just fight the Egg Dragon over and over, and you'll hear that epic piece again.

Hate to point it out, but aside from the puzzles (which were admittedly some of the hardest on the SNES), Lufia II was mostly very easy, unless you tried to win that "supposed to lose" battle against Gades at Gordovan West Tower. Lufia and the Fortress of Doom, on the other hand, was _brutal._
@Ignirium4 жыл бұрын
@@ArcaneAzmadi I beat Gades at the tower the first time you meet him when i was a kid, i did it in normal mode. i didn't beat the game yet, i didn't know there was a retry mode and the internet sucked to look stuff up. I remember thinking his damage wasn't too high and regain potions heal more than Hi-Potions, so grinded for a day or two and was able to stand my ground on him and i got the biggest shock/ dopamine trip, it took about 30mins to kill him, he still killed me and i got his Gades Blade. Was fckn awesome, i love that memory.

It's true. The talent which made these games is divided now between two places - for gameplay ideas and story, it's gone into indies. But for art and music, it's largely gone into AAA titles. As a friend once said, "talent goes where it is needed". The AAA process itself bids up creative costs, and to top it off, most indie makers are a bit off the deep end and can't for the life of them make a simple heroic epic story without screwing it up with LGBT issues or weird nihilist philosophy. Killing gods is pretty nihilistic, I thought. But then, I was wrong.
