VERY creative how they had this game start with the events of what would eventually be "Lufia II". Kudos to Neverland Company for that twist. Not to mention this was their very first game; the company was in business for 20 years from 1993 to 2013.

How can you handle all the random battles? It seems like overkill...@@Dorian_Scott
@MistyKathrine7 ай бұрын
@@Gameboy-Unboxings Combat is the main gameplay element of these type of games. All of that equipment, levels, abilities, etc. exist solely to fight monsters. If you enjoy RPGs, battles aren't an issue.
@kuzuthunder19645 ай бұрын
@@MistyKathrineHe did not say anything against combat, just random battles. Random battles are frustrating because the encounters serve no purpose, as they are not fixed, they are not skill checks but just unnecessary time drains. Fixed monsters or visible encounters are much better because they either test the skill of the player or allow them an opportunity to sneak past them, which should be an option in an rpg. Random encounters would make earthbound, chrono trigger, mario rpg, and lufia 2 dungeons much less endearing.

Some of the translation issues may be due to software limitations. Just before the 5:00:00 mark, you see "Brone " armor. That's clearly supposed to be 'bronze'.

i also remember having a dream of having this game in the summer of 2000. and it was a strange one considering i never heard or played or saw the game at that point. one year later when i played this and heard a certain track that i dreamt of. this game became an instant like. plus not grinding and using the 4x exp/gp continue feature this game can challenge you some.

I really was never a fan of the group-based targeting system this game had. I remember getting to the three towers en route to Arturo and then just kinda got bored with it. I appreciate what it set out to accomplish though. The prequel to this game was such an amazing improvement to this series in so many ways. That kind of improvement doesn’t happen too too often in games, I feel. That one I did end up getting all the way through.

I always loved the original battle theme in this game, it certainly goes hard and makes you want to go outside and form a party of 4 people and go out on a quest throughout the United States beating the shit out of bugs, wildlife, cruel hobos, thugs, and heartless human baphomets who hunt and eat babies. Sounds like an idea for a JRPG, I should begin writing a script 😬👍🏼.

I played rise of the sinistrals before i played this game. Funny since i had no idea i was playing in chronological order until i finally played fortress of doom. Took me a while to get through the fortress of doom though. I did not like the game. I thought the intro was cool too and i had probably a somewhat unusual view of it since I played the other game first. This game though was just boring to me and the random combat was a lot more tedious and irritating. The music was disappointing too compared to the prequel. That one was just awesome especially near the end as you are ramping up for the final confrontation. That first music score all the way to the bitter end was just fantastic. This game not so much...

For some reason, Lufia II was never available around me (Just north of Detroit) and the review I read in GamePro gave it lower scores than what this game, the original, got. So when I found an emulator online, I tried it. I just couldn't get into it like I could this game. Even stranger is that I actually enjoyed Lufia IV.

I remember this game being really poorly balanced also. It was quite hard up to the water ghost that was a complete bullshit boss with aoe that I ended up cheesing by casting petrify on every character except lufia because she had the best magic res. After that the game pretty much became a cakewalk.
