I commented on a JFK to DFW flight, in short, I suggested using suction cups and homebrew camera holder to preserve the view of the planes attitude and hydraulic flight controls and minimize the effects of turbulence on camera shake. I like the way you preserved the view of the wing while you could see nothing but black outside. I experienced the vertigo and thought I saw the ground as in a steep right bank. It was a total illusion! Good for flight training to confirm that you MUST trust the instruments not your perception of things! NO MATTER what you feel like is happening! Good job!

Another beautiful video showing the flaps in action. Also an awesome sunset. A lot of people bitch about airport delays, but for me it's extra time to wander around and see airliners up close. My first glimpse of one as a very young child was a 707 in the early 60s and it was love at first sight. It amazes that most people are not be in awe of these marvels of our age

I love your videos Dantrop. This is the best armchair entertainment when not traveling. I have been quite picky when it comes to picking what airlines and planes to fly on. When looking for itineraries I first look at the aircraft then the airline. I will be going to Athens and Rome as part of a cruise and booked Lufthansa on their Airbus 380 from San Francisco and the Airbus 340 from Munich-San Francisco. I prefer Lufthansa over United for their inflight service in Economy Class and the A380. I was on the A380 on Lufthansa and enjoyed it. Call me picky but I can't really suffer flying on a 757 across the ocean.

Jjoerg EightyTwo ~ I scrolled down just to declare that exact thing. Unfortunately, stuck in a tube 30,000 ft plus, nothing to do, you'd think! As a retired Airline employee and an experienced flyer, (PAX - not a pilot), ear plugs are a must have. Ither that or headphones. Depending upon your arrival plans after your reach your destination, as headphones do mess with the hair, especially if it's extremely fine and soft. Nevertheless, headphones work the best, particularly if your not listening to anything. A good set of Noise Reduction headphones, like Bosë. I wouldn't suggest counting on the Airlines headgear, unless your First Class or Business Class. But then, if you have the opportunity, always travel Business Class. Just a simple tip. Wouldn't want to hear of any strangled babies on the news.

..why is the approach curved like this? is it like this all the time for 13l? wot about 13r if there is such a runway?
@tjrtt10 жыл бұрын
13L is the toughest approach into JFK. Yes there is a 13R (31L coming from the opposite direction) which is actually one of the longest commercial runways in North America.
@AEMoreira818 жыл бұрын
Unless it's extremely low visibility and strong winds take other runways out of the question, yes. It is done like that to avoid LaGuardia traffic, which prevents a normal 10 mile (16 km) approach (except for the situation noted prior).

why did you pick the seat above the wings?
@LegendaryKev8 жыл бұрын
+Cesar Rodriguez --I think he would have preferred to be one or two rows further back rather than being right on top of the wing - but most of these videos will include the leading or trailing edge of the wing in frame throughout. It might seem like that blocks some of the view, but to an airplane geek, that wing is part of the scenery. The wing can tell you everything about the flight - the smoothness of the air, the control inputs from the pilot or autopilot, and it's just cool to watch the whole geometry of the wing change as the flaps are lowered during the approach. I love a view of the wing when I fly. Besides, there's a one-in-a-billion chance the pilots will be in a big hurry to get going, and in their haste forget to lower the flaps for takeoff [Northwest 255, Detroit, 1987]. You want to keep an eye on that, don't you? We're counting on you.
