Lufthansa's €2 Billion New Cabin - First Class Double Suite

I flew on Lufthansa B747-8 from Los Angeles to Germany to see their new "Allegris" cabin product launch. The current Lufthansa Business Class seats have some shortcomings and lack privacy. I flew on the upper deck of the legendary B747.
Lufthansa unveiled its €2.5 Billion cabin upgrade program "Allegris". The most impressive product is on Lufthansa First Class which features a floor-to-ceiling double suite in the middle. The suite can convert into a double bed with a 43" TV screen.
Lufthansa's new Business Class also features a 2m long bed and suite. There are up to 7 different seat configurations in Business Class. Watch the video for the details.
Less impressive are the Premium Economy and Economy, those are fairly standard and without much improvement in my opinion. In the video, I gave my impression, pros and cons after trying out these seats.

I love the fact that Sam calls out the airline for showing off the best seats in economy rather than the normal ones. I really appreciate his honesty and although I love seeing the first class seats, I will probably never be able to afford them so seeing what economy is like really helps the average flyer

FIrst time I flew a shell type seat was Cathay Pacific Sydney to Hong Kong - actually in their economy. Never again. That exact same problem, just puts you on a downward slide into the shell in front, with your neck at an awful angle. I read that they replaced them pretty quickly after many, many complaints. Can't believe Lufthansa has installed them in their premium economy!

Thanks for this video Sam, I think it’s a very fair assessment of the Lufthansa product, both current and future. Honestly I’m rather disappointed with what I’ve seen. The materials, especially the first class “curtains”, seem rather cheap, and little about the business class seat seems industry leading. Plus I totally agree, that premium economy seat looks terribly uncomfortable!

Well, first class seems undewhelming compared to Qatar or Emirates who do it more with style but Business seems solid with good space, privacy and 2m long bedding possible. I dont know, economy is economy, it is ok but Im not sure what can be improved, bicycle is already invented :)

I flew Premium economy this year on a 13 hour flight from Frankfurt to buenos Aires and it was really, really great. It was very comfortable and I had a lot of leg room. This is a huge downgrade sadly

Or the Delta Business class suite is also much nicer. The new LH business class looks promising and I hope to try it this year.

It's always interesting to see views from the biz end of the aircraft. The one thing I thought when you went upstairs was how tight the seats looked and the lack of privacy. It was clear you felt the same. Your videos are really snappy and really nice views of the aircraft too. The news seats look good albeit a bit of time for the retrofit. If I had the cash I wouldn't mind giving it a go 😄

Amazing how far the airline industry has come. I flew from Australia to USA and on to England in 1971 on a Vickers super VC10. The flight was very long, only a curtain separated economy from first class and you only got a BOAC magazine to read all the way. The Vickers VC10 and super VC10 were the grand ladies of the sky.

That brings back memories I used to fly a lot in a Boeing 747 300 and the 747 400 my mom used to work for KLM as a stewardess also in the business class so everytime she was working I went with her all over the world from 5 years old until I was 17 now 42 and she retired in 2007 she started working in 1973 definitely brings back fine memories seeing this seeing how much it's changed the business class when I was little until now.

thank god the Lufthansa group is finally moving to a good business class layout. I don't have the money to fly business but I will soon have enough miles to do an upgrade but the old layout would mean no isle access or no window. Also strange for solo travelers to be put together with a second.

Don't get too excited. You won't even see the first new delivery with the new product until 2024 and the retrofits will take years if they ever happen. This was pure marketing since they know their hard product sucks on most long haul aircraft. You'll also be disappointed if they do an equipment swap.

I was recently on a new virgin a350-1000 and it's a beautiful plane. My main complaint is that when someone reclines the seat in front of you economy there is no space. I dont think economy seats should recline because of this.

Tkx for always being honest while sharing your thoughts. I must agree though with Al Bakar last statement about Lufthansa, the new J and F class seem to be full of gadgets to be honest. Funny that no one has talked about seating... will those new seats are really comfortable? How Lufthansa has improved them compare to all the gadgets they brought in ? Sad because i always enjoyed travelling First Class with Lufthansa. Now every passenger are going to be hidden with as sens of claustrophobia. It's about time Lufthansa upgraded their business and first-class seats. They were falling behind a lot of other airlines in Europe in terms of comfort and space, and passengers were complaining about it. The seat that Sam sat on the 747 showed how cramped it was. The new premium economy seats look pretty bad but the economy seats look better. Interesting that they've gone for the private suite for their first-class on the A350. Looks similar to the Emirates and Etihad ones but less luxurious. It will likely be cheaper but still very expensive.

Sam mentions the squeezy 747 experience (10 more seats wtf), his opinion about the new (bad) premium eco is absolutly meaningful, LH doesn't have a problem to cheat with their new Eco display with 34 pitch.....and if the LH service Quality isn't improved flying LH will not become an option in the future for me.

We should all appreciate Sam's honesty here. Lufthansa has been offering substandard product in all classes and at premium prices for too long. The new 1st class and Business classes are nice but not affordable to mortals.
