My husband and I had our ritual and feast on August eve. (Catching this on August 4th.) Lammas has always been my favorite holy day on the wheel of the year. We live in New England and I’ve been practicing since the late 80s. Yes, I’m old. Lol

I do have an allotment at the back of my garden. I definitely will. I do sing to my vegetables lol especially when they are growing. It will be my 3rd year of learning nature. I put my hands in the soil. The soil can speak if you just listen.

Did not know Lugh was fundamental to the seasonal festival of Lammas. Fascinating. Admire your connection with the earth and ancestors. The yearly wheel of seasonal festivals a great way to strengthen this connection. Enjoy your Lammas celebrations - Imbolc over here for me in Australia.

Man I live now in Berlin to be close to my klids from seperation. Keep doing what you are doing you are honourable example of the good bits of English Culture and that comes from and Irish man whom had much shit in the UK once a squatter organiser of illegal raves. You give me hope that my own kids will find their way and connect with the other part of their culture . I refer to my daugher Eire now 19 in the UK and my three boys eldest 12 here in Germany Berlin. Any time you want to check pronouncation of Irish Gaeilge ping me and keep sharing our common Norse Irish Anglo Saxon cultures . You are a credit to all modern pagans . Briseann pórú trí shúil snáthaide agus ní thógann sé ach braon fola chun an cuan a dhathú dearg... tá rudaí maithe á ndéanamh agat b’fhéidir go luascfaidh fórsaí an nádúir chugat agus go bhfaighidh na Sidhe go léir fabhar leat.

This is, hands down, the best comment I’ve ever read. I’ve met so many brothers and sisters on Irish soil, and it felt like coming home in so many ways. I love stressing the connections between anglo - Irish - Norse - Germanic culture rather than the differences. Your boys and girl are lucky to have a dad that wants to guide them in the old ways. Even if they don’t know it yet.

The late hay crop was ruined by ergot here a few years back due to rain ... hoping it doesnt happen this year. (I have horses and like to feed them standing hay if i can over winter...) Ate the first blackberries, (shared them with my dog) today... I like to remind myself that the summer holidays have have only just begun!

Celebrate every chance you get. It doesn't matter what religion you follow or if you are pagan or whatever. I personally celebrate all of the pagan festivals, but the Christian holidays that have been superimposed over those are fun also! The Hindu festival of light happens right around Imbolc, and my son's school celebrated that.

edit: I realize you're talking about several traditions in this video -- not lost on me🙃 I was born under the time of Lughnasadh (4th Aug) and had no idea. Hell, up until 2 years ago I thought my genetic heritage was Italian (pasty white sheep of the family) but found out English is my bloodline.😅Genetics are funny and fickle. I would love to incorporate these traditions into my birthday celebrations as a way to celebrate my late father. I'm getting quite the education on this channel.

Teltown Co Meath Ireland, today a very nondescript place, farmland, a house, and the remains of a ring fort or fairy fort. In ancient times it was Tailteann / Tailtin, where at Lughnasadh according to myth, Lugh founded Óenach Tailten, or the Fair at Tailtin in memory of his foster mother Tailtiu. Puck Fair in Kerry today is a remnant of this ancient festival. These must have been wild events .... judging by what Puck Fair was like, when I was there many years ago. According to Brehon Law, a young couple could stay together for one year and a day .... a sort of marriage, and split-up then if it did not work out. Lugh is also associated with Crom Dubh a harvest God .... who is Crom Cruach (the bent one of the mound) that dark and demonic entity whose time is Samhain - Óiche Shamhna, or in English Halloween.

Back in the day, a series of Sci Fi books I used to read called 'The Many Coloured Land','The Golden Torc' by Julian May, had a whole lot of writing about the Sidthe, Lugh, Tuatha De Danaan, and much more, as part of the main story... The books won awards, and were quite well known for a time... 'The Non Born King' is the third in the series, and it's main character is called Aitken Drum... Each book is around 450 pages, so there's a lot to read, but its a fascinating tale....

Crazy how the Tuatha De Danann were said in myth to have lived in Greece for a bit while in the Illiad it speaks of a people in Greece called the Dananns. They were descended from Danaë and Zeus who’s mother of Perseus (if I’m not mistaken). It’s also wild in Celtic myth they are said to have came from the north which is where you’d find Denmark. Danu is mother of the Danavas in the Rig Veda who’s a water goddess (still worshipped in Indonesia) and she can also be found in Celtic myth also as a river goddess. These were a REAL people who left their name all over especially in rivers (don, Dnieper, Dniester etc.) Then obvious is the biblical connection with the tribe of Dan. These people were obviously a very important, aristocratic bunch.

Quick question or two. Was Lammas not the christian version of Lughnasadh? We still have the Lammas Fair in Ballycastle, Northern Ireland every year. Something I was taken to as a child but cannot do now due to disability. Also you say the slaying of Lugh or as you called him the "Corn God" was tying into the ressurection of Jesus. Would that not be the other way round?
@TheStoryCrow
@TheStoryCrow 6 ай бұрын
Hi, I’m sorry to hear that your less able to go and do the things you wish to. Yeah Lammas is generally considered to be the Christianised version of an earlier festival named after Lugh. Elements of the mythology of Lugh tie in to the idea of harvests returning year on year, solar gods, corn deities etc which provide a good basis for the evolution of later Christianity. That’s it in a very brief nutshell. So yes, it came before Christianity, and Christianity evolved the metaphysics and ‘refined’ the theology.

Long hair ........ spears ........ spoken of in the old Irish stories, represent the rays, and the power of the sun. The pale and weak rays of the male sun in winter, enters the womb the tomb at Brú na Bóinne or Newgrange, fertilise Bridget, daughter of the Dagda, Goddess of the earth. The Biblical story of Samson and Delilah, comes from a similar ancient source, the narrative is the same. Samson's hair represents the regenerative power of the sun, when it was cut, his strength was gone.

Lugh AKA Apollo, Nergal, Anshar, lugalbanda. 911. Revelation 9.11
@TheStoryCrow
@TheStoryCrow Жыл бұрын
Ah, Revelation. So the demon of that verse is sometimes translated as the flashing one or the destroyer (nothing to do with the Hellenic Apollo imo) which are also epithets given to the Irish demon king Balor - who is slayed by Lugh. So if you want to make parallels with revelation and Celtic myth (which is a dodgy business) then Lugh I guess would be on the side of Jehovah and his angelic retinue. Fun eh? Anyway. Peace to you brother 🙏
@andruelohim3100
@andruelohim3100 Жыл бұрын
I very much doubt that Lugh AKA Apollo is on the side of Jehovah aka Mercury and his rapidly disappearing band of prostitutes. The bible is the mark of the beast after all. 66 books and the 3rd 6 is the idiot holding it, 6 is a man's number. This means that even if you are a Protestant, and dont subscribe to Roman Catholicism you still carry the mark of the beast We are here to remove that bullshit and it's authors. I agree with you Apollo is not even a real name...it means a chicken, a reference to the Iliad when he walked away from a fight with the Earth shaker, he was known as Nergal in the mesopotamian pantheon, interestingly one of his titles was the dung hill Cock or fighting Cock. When it comes to names of gods and goddesses, after the indo Europeans came they added aspects of the gods personalities to various epithets seemingly creating new gods who where actually just aspects of one person. The gods were also downgraded after every age to the point where in Psalm 82 :6-7 I said, `You are "gods"; you are all sons of the Most High.'7But you will die like mere men; you will fall like every other ruler." This to the point where they live amongst us and you would never know. Now that is a fun thought brother.
@andruelohim3100
@andruelohim3100 Жыл бұрын
@@TheStoryCrow You know the new testament including Revelation is written in Greek...I think they may have known who Apollo was when they wrote his name in the book. Apollo the god of the sun, light and death and plague. He sounds a bit like the pale rider, death with plague following not far behind. ... Do you think the destruction of the twin towers on 911 was a coincidence? The twins Apollo and Diana, the sun and the moon. Able Archer NATO exercise that nearly wiped out the planet held on the date of the 9th -11th / 11 / 1983...8+3=11. Princess Diana murdered on the 31st August 1997...3+1=4...1997+4=19911. She waa murdered on the last phase of the moon in Pisces. The night of the dieing Moon. Coincidences. The Apollo 11 fake moon landings. Even NASA is a reference to Apollo. The Celtic Apollo and his games, Lughnasa. Now we are really having fun. Some scholars say the book of Revelation has had the name of Jesus added to it at a later date. Many early church leaders didn't want it included in the Canon because it is clearly pagan. 14v14 is a clear reference to Kronos or the angel Metatron who's name means Reaper Justice. Meta comes from the Celtic met or Medel which means Reap and tron is Scots Celtic for measuring bar or measuring scale the symbol for Justice. The book of Revelation is about the return of the ancient of days, Apsu and Anshar, the elder gods. The return of the Titans / Anunna. The end of religion and it's false worship of the "gods". What kind of higher being acts worse than his creation and then adds guilt, shame, debt and fear on to his crowning glory, Humanity? What kind of god creates humanity then suddenly becomes a racist? All religion is messenger worship created by Typhon Aka Hermes himself. In every religion, You never get to talk to god, all your faith is in the messenger or priest caste. It doesn't matter what religion your in, it always goes back to Thoth AKA Typhon, Apepi, Set, Hermes, Mercury, Buddah, Apostle Paul / Saul, You didn't think the devil was going to let you have a book that would give you all the answers. As the Apostle Paul said with much dupers delight, the devil keeps transforming himself into an angel of light.. Now it's a party brother. Stanley X

I don't think "corn king" would be right as corn is a crop from Turtle Island ( North and Central America) brought over in 1493 and was only grown with moderate success until it was hybridized. from a historical sense..... it doesn't, but i think you meant wheat... other wise amazing video
@TheStoryCrow
@TheStoryCrow Жыл бұрын
Corn in the English language refers to any grain crop, usually wheat, but also barley or rye. And yes, sometimes Maize, which I guess is what you are referring to as ‘corn’. That being said, ‘Turtle Island’ has its own wonderful versions of European languages, and in many cases they are more original. I love the Latin American Spanish word for ‘pen’ : pluma / feather 🪶 for example. But yes, ‘corn’ in this part of the world is usually a generic term for ‘crop’ and usually wheat, not maize. I Probably should have made that clear for my turtle dwelling viewers. On another note. Personally I prefer ‘corn’ tortillas to wheat, so there’s that 😂

It’s nothing to do with “nationalism” that is a trite and tired retort based off of English ignorance and nationalistic arrogance. Though blight may have decimated the potato harvest prior to the Irish famine, there was still plenty of other food resources that were forcibly kept from the Irish population. It was an “English” blight that caused the famine and intentional genocide of the Irish population. That is a historic fact backed up by record.
