Luigi's Mansion 2 HD on Switch has just been released. I wouldn't recommend paying the full price if you've already played it on 3DS. The game is beautiful on Switch but it doesn't justify the price. Important note: there is no additional content in this version.

Agree! While I appreciate the effort Nintendo put into this remaster, I don't think it's worth the $60 price tag.

I'm actually fine with remakes at $60 as long as they add new content. Compared to Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, which is just a simple remaster, the TTYD remake has updated graphics, new bosses, new badges, a new recipe, new quizzes (Boo) and QOL improvements. For some, it may not be enough to justify the $60 price tag but remember that TTYD is also a 20-year-old game, and with the remake, players who didn't have the chance to play the original can now experience it for the first time. Given the added content and improvements, I didn't feel like $60 was an outrageous price but I understand why some people might think so.

I feel like the heavy polygon aesthetic of the 3DS version fitted the device better. I am not sure but I always thought it was due to hardware limitations? Although I am not so sure about how limited a 3DS would be by this point for a game like this. In any case, seeing those polygony models in HD on the Switch seems off to me. Same with some character animations.

This was so awesome to see :) As a kid the 3DS version looked like the switch version in my head. It's awesome to see all the new textures and model touch ups they did

I can relate to this!:) When I replayed some of my favorite childhood games, the graphics often looked worse than I remembered. GoldenEye is a perfect example.

My only real issue with the "improved visuals is Luigi's Eyes. They feel so stiffed and souless compared to the 3ds version.

Thumbnail is very disingenius, using the same version on both sides but the "Switch version" is just an upscaled pic of the 3DS version

Thanks for pointing that out. You’re absolutely right! The thumbnail in the video was actually a prototype I made last year before the Switch HD version was released. The pic on the right is indeed an upscaled image of the original 3DS game. When the actual remaster came out, I created a new thumbnail with a proper image from the Switch version but mistakenly uploaded the old prototype thumbnail instead. It was never my intention to be disingenuous. I've just updated the thumbnail. Thanks again for noticing this!
