I was a wee little 8 year old I’ve only played diamond up to the 8th gym where I gave up. My dad bought me pokemon black and my brother pokemon white. I was able to defeat lenora first after a painful amount of tries. The first time crossing this bridge, I was amazed. This was something new to pokemon. The perspective changes and the music where beautiful. Whenever I cross this bridge now I get beautifully destroyed by nostalgia

My first time going across this bridge, I biked through, and being able to fully cross without stopping, combined with the music and changing camera angles, it felt like I was playing through a cutscene/travel sequence/montage. I remember intentionally going back to the bridge later a few times later in the game and going back through just to experience it again or just to listen to the music for a minute (though at one point I got curious about when, exactly, the camera angles changed, so I walked through it one step at a time to see)

When I first played this game, I had played up until the very end of the Pinwheel Forst, having accomplished everything possible beforehand. I saved the game, picked it up the next day and was blown away by this being the first part of the game. This was an experience.

I think the issue here is not Game Freak's technical ability, but more so the ridiculously short time frame they are given to produce every new game, the paltry 3DS budget they are given for every new project, and the fact that HD development is very costly so they kinda have to work with what they have. As long as The Pokemon Company (the ones TRULY in charge) pinches their pennies and continues to not give Game Freak enough time or money to make something truly spectacular, we will never see something as breathtaking as this come out of Game Freak. Game Freak has the ability, but not the funding or time. (I do think Legends Arceus was probably the best game we've gotten since B&W2, and Scarlet and Violet look really freaking good! I can't wait to play those when they come out, they are gonna be SWEET! I'm gonna be the odd duck and pick Scarlet, because I like the pretty professor lady.)

Lotsa bad words up ahead!* Also, the whole "Game Freak LIED" hashtag that trended on Twitter when S&S were making the rounds was the result of a bunch of ignorant, irate "fans" who misunderstood the interview they "claimed" to be evidence of lies when in actuality it was a mistranslation, a misunderstanding. The real truth was due to balancing, and likely the decision of those on top at The Pokemon Company to prepare for their new Pokemon Home scheme. (And it doesnt help that Junichi Masuda shouldn't have any business doing interviews, because clearly he has a weird way of saying things that could easily be misconstrued or mistranslated.) Anyone with a brain cell in their thick skulls would know that after a little bit of research. Don't believe what the headlines or click bait videos tell you, those are the REAL liars. That's true of any drama resulting from most Nintendo or Nintendo Adjacent games these days. It's to just get clicks. It's disgusting, and I can imagine it was very discouraging and frustrating for anyone at Game Freak working on the games, not to mention the death threats and harassment coming from people who call themselves "fans". At the end or the day, it's a fucking GAME. Grow the FUCK up! If you weren't there working on the game, or if you don't have REAL insight on its development, you are NOT in a position to say you could do better UNLESS you can somehow manage to actually make a better game yourself. Game development is hard, it involves a lot of moving parts working together and a lot of times, cogs get jammed.

THIS is the pinnacle of the sprite-graphics Pokemon games, before everything went to 3D modeling. Everything here is 2D, but the extra clever use of camera angles and depth change makes it feel more 3D than 3D. I was absolutely in awe crossing this bridge the first time, and I can't get enough of watching this video.

The awesome thing is that the sprite doesn’t actually change, but it gets smaller and larger as is needed and the shadow moves to show the perspective change. It’s a really efficient way to add 3d camera angles to a game that uses pixel art

Man you were four experiencing it? When I was four it was only 2002 and we were just getting to Gen 3. I played Emerald and Diamond by borrowing them from a friend but Platinum was the first game I owned. When Black and White came out in 2011 I was 12 going on 13 that year and got it on release. Such good times. I hope you still experience that joy and enjoy the rest of your remaining childhood

Game Freak had the right to flex this time. This was the second gen in a row to have games on the DS. No novelties in the form of new hardware capabilities to fall back on this time. They were basically using the same tech DPPt and HGSS used. Nobody could anticipate how even with those limitations, they'd be able to keep the series fresh and interesting, yet the madlads somehow did it. Shouldn't have even bothered calling it Pokemon Black and White. Would've been simpler if they just called it "Pokemon, Bitch!"

It's funny how people were saying that the reason why DP was so slow cause of the thing that the games are pushing DS beyond its limit, but then look at Black and White: Fully animated Pokemon sprites 3 on 3 battles with different styles Castelia City Skyarrow Bridge And it worked just fine!
