I think a lot of these teams don't want to give up prospects for a high risk like Luis Roberts Jr. , with the main risk being injury but he could also be in a decline. If I were David Stearns I wouldn't touch him even if they said they just want Bret Baty.

Robert had 1 good year in 2023. Definitely a gamble. The only plus is the club option. I wouldn't give up Wagner for Robert. looking at Robert's stats, he hasn't played alot of games year over year. Is he injury prone? Does he get benched? Jays need a bat and I don't think Robert is what the Jays need.

His rookie year he was runner up rookie of the year in the Covid shortened season. He led the league in batting average in 2021 before a hip injury ended his year. He was second in the league in HRs with 38 just a season ago. But last year dealt with some lingering injuries on a historically bad team. He’a still young and has major talent but has had some injury’s in the past that have kept him from fully reaching his potential. I’ll definitely be interested to see where he ends up.

@@NathanLucas-r4l I have to be honest, I'm not impressed with his stats. Mediocre at best. Not a high end guy. Now if the Jays had 2 solid OFs and need a 3rd ok sure plug in Roberts and if it doesn't work no big deal. Jays need an impact bat. i just don't see it with Robert. The last things Jays need is 3 OFs who cant' hit but eating up the payroll. It's the wrong direction. If Jays could get Robert at a steal then sure why not. Toss a couple AA guys the Sox way. Throw in Manoah.

His 162 game averages say otherwise. He’s a 5 WAR, 30 +HR a year gold glover according to the statistics. Quite the opposite of mediocre. He’s also young, and on an extremely team friendly deal.

He has hit 30+ HRs only once in his 5 seasons. a 5 WAR only once. You would be getting a player who may not play 100 games and wont put up numbers. That's the reality.

You can have whatever opinion of him you’d like but the reality is he is a 5 WAR average player who also averages 30+ HRs in 162 games. That’s the reality. He also has a gold glover, a silver slugger, and received MVP votes just a season ago. Whether you like it or not LRJ is elite.

Below average fielder with a so so bat? That’s the farthest thing from an accurate statement. Luis Robert is one of the best defensive CFs in the league who’s won the GG, SS, and been an AS. He led the league in average in 2021 and was 2nd in the league in HRs just a season ago. La Pantera is elite.

His 162 game averages are on par with that of a good number of hall of famers. His accolades would second that production. His injury’s have been the concern, not his abilities. And to say he isn’t fast and can’t get to line drives is again the farthest thing from the truth. He’s in the 90 percentile in sprint speed. He’s got one of the better jumps and has been one of the top players in the league in OAA since he entered the league. He also stole 23 bags in 26 attempts last year in just 100 games. So yeah I would say Robert is both fast and elite.

People like Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson, Lou Brock, Rickie Henderson, Pete Rose, Ernie Banks, and so much more... look it up. All of the guys I mentioned here are in the Hall of Fame... I saw them all play. Your guy stole 23 bases in 26 attempts... that's amazing to you? I saw Lou Brock break Maury Wills' single season record of 104 bases... then was fortunate to see that broken by Rickey Henderson! THAT is impressive. But obviously you never heard of these guys have you? Nathan, I'm 67 yrs old and have seen some of the greatest ballplayers ever on a baseball diamond. Look up their stats and see for yourself what I'm talking about... better yet, watch some video.

I haven’t seen my 20’s in while. I did play the game for 24 years though. I don’t think I take away from the accomplishment of players like Mays, Aaron, or Rose when I say that Robert is elite. My favorite player is Eddie Mathew’s so I’m fully aware of who they were and what the greats of the game were capable of. Those players were all elite relative to their time, no different than Chipper Jones, Larry Walker, Ronald Acuna, or Juan Soto. Elite to me is being better than the vast majority of your counterparts. Luis is better than the vast majority of the players in this league. The reference to his 23 of 26 bags was simply a response to you saying Robert isn’t fast. Just stating a fact that he is one of faster players in the league. A Robert stat that does amaze me though is that he hit the farthest ball ever recorded in the stat cast era in his rookie season. I enjoy watching good baseball players. Robert has a whole lot to accomplish in his career before he makes it to the likes of the Hall of Famers you speak of. In the mean time it’s my opinion he’s elite.
