This is crazy. Just yesterday I was using a stencil and afterwards applied the micro glaze. I wanted to create a resist effect when I sprayed with distressed stain. Anyway, I tend to not think outside the box and I am very straightforward, by the rules type of person, so I thought to myself maybe I could put clear embossing powder on this but I decided no…. that’s what the embossing dabber is for. I see now that by limiting my way of thinking I missed out on this whole opportunity to discover what you’re showing us today. Thank you for this video. It really helped me, Mr. rule follower, to expand my thought process and realize I should’ve gone with my initial instincts. 👏👏👏

Tu, was dir gut tut.

Please read and use caution! Luise, first I want to say, that is a very cool effect! I just wanted to mention that if the Distress micro glaze is a petroleum-based product like Vaseline you might want to use caution when heating it. Since you’re using the Tim Holtz heat tool which I believe has a temperature max of like 450°F that might be okay, but a normal heat tool has a lot higher temperature and could be as high as say 1200°F, and if someone uses a regular heat tool it could be more risky. I believe Vaseline has a flashpoint of 400°F so my concern would be that it could catch on fire. Also I read the fumes that are produced when you heat Vaseline can be flammable, so I would air on the side of caution as far as that goes. I couldn’t find the MSDS for the Distress Micro Glaze, so I am mostly guessing as to the ingredients. My suggestion would be to talk to Tim or Ranger and see what they think. Always use Caution, when using a medium in a way, it was not formulated to use because there are factors that could make it unsafe.
@suruha23066 күн бұрын
Yes, ma'm! Vaseline comes from petroleum processing. Glad you pointed this out.

That’s super neat. I used just distress glaze on a printout and then applied heat. You can see how it melts into the paper and turns it translucent. What’s really wild is that it also affects opaque embossing powder and turns it translucent. That’s some crazy chemistry! ❤😊
