It looks like the AI jumped in order to get you within the special's radius. That, or the game readjusts the positioning of Twister for the special, making it spawn in midair when there's that much height difference.

And the games were so unique we had a blast that today’s games can’t compare to. Sure we were younger so it was more fun but more thought and freedom was put into these games than now. Everything is AAA now.

The problem is that those AAA titles lack anything that makes them unique and they're all about recouping their investment and making profit so they stick with safe trends. That's why when Fortnite and PUBG came out, 9000 other battle royale games all dropped within the year with varying level of quality, and every non battle royale game had an included battle royale mode because everybody was hoping to cash in on the trend so you literally couldn't get away from it if it wasn't your cup of tea. There's nothing unique anymore, no creativity.
