I’ve noticed that in recent beauty pageants, the rehearsed answers seem to be getting a bit repetitive. It’s almost too obvious now, and you can tell contestants have prepped answers for specific questions. The fact that most interviews are on social media makes it easier for delegates to watch and practice those responses ahead of time. What I find interesting is how judges or pageantry organisations often rephrase the same question in different ways, but as an audience, we still recognize the pattern because we've heard it before. It's almost like they're testing the same concept in various forms, which kind of takes away from the originality.

Luis, those were really good points that we have observed for the last couple of years. It's been adding up lately. You must also include: • overhyped publicity or promotion (yet the goods were delivered "half-baked") • the bias or secured placement of the host country or the organizers' home state in the runners-up position, if not the major title • pay-per-view live stream for pre-pageant & coronation night (those who didn't have the "means" would simply settle on what's being announced on the news without the capacity to see the pageant live) • delayed announcement of winners for major award categories (need i say more?) • placing crowns on the heads of all runners-up (as if they're the major title holder) • novelty of using LED as stage display had already worn off (there needs to have some form of combined "physical or tangible" stage decoration akin to the Trump-era) • lack of excellent translation services (oftentimes the translation is bare minimum) • the "inclusivity" issue that had been tackled, dissected & debated in many social media platforms, over & over • matters about "quality vs. quantity" -- as to the number of candidates or representatives (many have lackluster credential or stage presence) • candidate's delivery of "memorized" speeches which only drag the show's appeal or deflect viewer's interest • final question that has become less thought-provoking or less challenging (that is not apt with the current times) -- even ordinary person can give a fluid, great answer • controversial as it may, many of the pageant winners (past & present) have become more & more "forgettable" (with the exception of a handful few)

Mix all your points together, and essentially we are saying, "Let's get back to grass roots and ENJOY the spectacle that is pageantry. Let's support ALL the girls. Not just our own girl. Sometimes our country will choose well and sometimes we just need to support whomever is a shining star in a particular year. As an older pageant fan, I remember sitting with my pen and paper scoring each girl and matching my score with the judges scores, ranting for 30 seconds if there is a discrepancy and then moving on after 2 hours of pure entertainment. NO PC activities, NO PC speeches, NO hatred for anyone, eliminating b**ches (el tocuyo!) and just having fun! I miss those days!❤❤

Very well said. Things have goe astray and im thinking of two of the most popular ones. It isnt uplifting their brand and pageantry at all. And very true, fans are fans. They can critique and voice opinions without being mean or unprofessional (sinc ethey call themselves "experts"). As for answering questions, it's good to be prepared but losing the substance, losing the authenticity, the fun, the spontaneity, yeah, I'd score down too. All that being said, I'm really loving the new do ❤❤❤Happy New Year Luis!

Regarding the self-proclaimed ”Major Pageant”, in defence of some new pageants I followed, they just focus on their advocacy and aim for the big title with humility, they know it takes time and they are ok with that. Just the fans keep arguing about which ones are the Alpha pageants. So I'm not sure which 1-year-old pageant you mentioned but I hope you can distinguish the fan’s opinion and the organization’s proclamation.

Great list. All facts. Well-articulated. Though word of caution, you may tone down a little on the use of AAVE when delivering your points. Okay but which pageant is overall the most unproblematic. Grand int. had the best production this year but Nawat sparking drama was soooooo tired and unprofessional. Yes Miss Myanmar was wrong but he literally sat there and informally spoke unpreparedly on a press conference where it wasn't even relevant to speak on it, despite being asked to. Idk that took away the moment from grand especially after miss france's dismissal. I miss when the owners didn't really get involved. Dare I say Donald trump (a known public figure in his own capacity) set a very good example in this regard, having HIGH calibre queens win from various DIFFERENT countries with a very different top 5 like every year? Crazy how tryna get clout is what these owners are chasing instead of producing something of HIGH quality and letting THAT speak for itself.

@@LuisPortelles Which makes me wonder how first round semifinalists with inferior pasarella walks get to advance to the next round despite less than impressive performances in the semifinal swimsuit competition. At the 2024 MU, for example...how on earth did Misses NIGERIA, CANADA, THAILAND, PERU, and BOLIVIA beat Misses DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, CUBA, PHILIPPINES, FINLAND, and ECUADOR in the semifinal swimsuit competition if pasarella walk, confidence, and physical fitness were the criteria for selecting the top 12? And if pasarella walk were again a factor in selecting the top 5, then please explain how Misses NIGERIA, MEXICO, and THAILAND outscore Misses CHILE and PUERTO RICO in the top 12 evening gown competition? Too...the MISS WORLD Beauty Pageant, which many would argue as most prestigious of them all, places almost zero bearing to pasarella walk in choosing their queen.

I think all pageants should be stopped, as they have become irrelevant in this modern era. Back in the '90s, pageants were a significant platform for women to show the world that they could work and were capable of doing the same jobs as men. Women could be leaders and so on. But now, in 2025, women are already more active and involved, just like men. We can already see the equality between men and women when it comes to professional work and other areas. In today's era, what more can pageants accomplish? Everything that needed to be done has already been achieved and is ongoing. Hearing about pageants in this day and age just seems boring and irrelevant.🧐🙄
