The sheer fact that every other NBA GM was like "wtf" is telling you all you need to know. Mavs should have gotten so much more for him and every team would have emptied the bank. Mark Cuban, who was as shocked as everybody else, leaving the Mavs has ruined them already. Nico Harrison must be a Lakers plated mole.

Are you guys reading the internet and the NBA rumors..... sources inside the Lakers was indicating that the deal was bigger and that there were two firsts, and it was Dalton Knecht, and the deal got whittled down because Rob Pelinka was able to convince the Dallas Mavericks that Luka is a lot of risk. IMO, Nico should be fired.

We weren’t gonna win another championship with the roster we had now so if you get offered Luka you take it! Not saying the trade makes the Lakers title contenders but it gives the fans something to be very excited about post LeBron. Another generational superstar falls from the sky and lands in LA once again 😂

If it was obvious to Dallas that the star-struck Lakers could not resist the chance to grab Luka, it must have been equally obvious to the Lakers that Dallas was going all-in on one and only one player, Anthony Davis. All the pundits are wailing on Dallas for giving AD away, but the negotiation dynamic actually may have favored LA.

1:50 this GM traded Porzingus for almost nothing lol didn’t extend Brunson for a very cheap 25m per year and traded the highest possible trade value of a player ever for almost nothing besides AD who is a top 8 player but has nowhere near the same trade value already as what they got him for and who they gave away

9:20 she'd already said why opening it up doesn't help Nico here. Even making the call already signals that they're out on Luka. Drawing it out only muddies the water. Luka gets wind and now he's making demands and you're negotiating with a gun to your head. And you for sure aren't getting a player of AD's level in return.

We laugh at the Sixers for giving Embiid a $200M extension then question the Mavs for not giving Luka $350 when apparently he can't stay in shape. We only "know" Luka from the floor. They obviously know more about his conditioning/habits/lifestyle than we do.
@Thisisrance
@Thisisrance 2 сағат бұрын
I’m not going to sugarcoat it-this whole situation is a mess. I blame the front office more than anything for how things went down, but people need to start looking at Luka for putting them in this situation in the first place. Nico Harrison absolutely botched the trade negotiations and alienated both the fans and Luka, no question. But at the same time, Luka was in line for the biggest contract in NBA history, and instead of using that as motivation to get in the best shape of his career, he showed up out of shape again. Fans keep talking about how he led the Mavs to the Finals last year, but he also ran out of gas when it mattered most. Did you know he only matched his regular-season scoring average twice in that entire playoff run? This is the same guy who used to elevate his game in the postseason, but the one year he finally had a real contending roster around him, he played worse. If we had that version of Luka-the one who torched the Suns or dragged a bunch of role players to a Game 7 against a stacked Clippers team-Dallas would have won a ring. But he wasn’t that guy. He looked slow, his three-ball was flat, and he was tired. It’s wild to think that just two seasons ago, Luka was dunking on people. Now, at 26 years old, he can barely get off the ground. Players don’t just decline like this at his age unless there’s a catastrophic injury, and in Luka’s case, it all comes down to his lifestyle choices. He should have been more motivated than ever-his supermax extension was on the table, and the Mavs finally had a legitimate team around him. But instead of locking in, he went off to play for Slovenia while still hobbled, got hurt again, and started the season out of shape. This year, he shot his lowest field goal percentage since his rookie year, and his counting stats all dropped. His scoring fell by six points per game despite taking just as many-if not more-shots. His injuries kept piling up, first his thigh, then his knee, then his ankle, and now his calf. This directly correlates to the weight he’s put on. Go back and watch his first step from three seasons ago-it’s completely gone. And on top of all this, his attitude on the court has become a serious red flag. The way he constantly whines to officials, racks up technical fouls, and shows terrible body language when things aren’t going his way is not what you want from a franchise cornerstone. It’s one thing to be fiery and competitive, but at some point, it becomes a distraction-especially when it’s coupled with all the other concerns. People want to put all the blame on Nico Harrison, but Luka is just as responsible for what happened. The Mavericks spent years and millions of dollars constructing a team around him, making trades, signing key players, and doing everything in their power to put him in the best position to win. But when the time came, they didn’t believe he had done everything in his power to be ready for that moment. That’s why we’re here. They didn’t want to be the franchise that kept waiting on their superstar to take things seriously while the championship window slowly closed. So they went out and got a player who does take his body and preparation seriously. Anthony Davis has had his injury struggles, but when he’s healthy, he’s one of the most dominant two-way players in the league. He’s won a title. He’s proven he can be at his best when it matters. The Mavs weren’t just scared of Luka’s contract-they were scared of where this was all heading. If they truly believed he was committed to doing whatever it took to win, they wouldn’t have moved him. But they saw the writing on the wall: Luka wasn’t giving them a reason to trust that his best days were ahead of him. So they found someone they could trust. Luka’s effort on the court has never been questioned. He plays hard, he competes, and he gives everything he has every night. But what everyone is afraid to say is that he let us down. He had everything he needed to take this team to the next level, and instead of taking that responsibility seriously, he showed up unprepared. He didn’t put himself in the best position to win, and because of that, the Mavs lost faith. Luka put the entire fanbase in a position where this was even a possibility. When you have a generational talent like him, a trade like this should have never been on the table. But because of his conditioning, his attitude, and his refusal to make the necessary changes, it was. And that’s on him just as much as it’s on the front office.

Everyone is mad that the Lakers didn't get a Laker tax. No one cared that Dallas only gave up Spencer Dinwiddie. Dorian Finney-Smith. Second Round Pick - 2027 to get Kyrie The Lakers gave AD in arguably an mvp season and a 1st rd pick annd Max Christi is an impactful up and coming 3 and D. Mavs are not better on offense but on defense they improved and AD can get 30 & 10 consistently

It's funny they all give Luka a pass and don't Embiid and Zion etc. They made the decision the Pelicans and 76ers should. I don't give them passes either. I can't make a 30 yr old (he's not 25 he's been playing 5 years longer, his body mileage is that of a 30 yr old) take his conditioning seriously. I shouldn't HAVE to. Especially if you're injury prone. I'M not saying they couldn't get a better haul, but no....I'm not paying 350 million to a hit tempered getting ejected from a finals game injury prone star that....won't take his diet and conditioning seriously.

I think with Kyrie was different cause he had no takers and he took the deal with the Mavericks because he wanted to prove himself. As great as he is, he really wet the bed with all his off the field nonsense. With Luca, if they would’ve put them out there for the higher bidder, there’s no doubt that he would’ve wreckedthis season. This is a high risk, high reward, gamble. My two concerns are who is going to be the PG and we’ve already seen AD and Kyrie as the number one on their team and it didn’t look good.

I wouldn’t give up Luka even if they offered AD, Gabe Vincent, Rui Hachimura and LeBron (because of his age obviously). . I’m still confused and outraged right now

I wouldn't give two nickels for LD. Lazy, slow, prima donna, he's hit his ceiling, now he's gonna bottom out. LJ wont like him, and LJ will prob go to GS. Mavs were smart to offload this baggage.

I'm betting against Luka. Not just bad on Defense but a big liability. Often injured, no intrinsic motivation, complains on every play.

This is pretty much the owners putting the power back in their hands. No player is safe, how it should be.
