My mother told me this reminded her of a form of jazz that she listened to back in the 30's and 40's which was called 'Swing'. Then, I ran across a song on Britain's Got Talent 2018, which was a personal arrangement of the famous song Seven Nation Army by an unknown named Aleksander Mileusciu. It had a very similar beat and vibe to this and when Simon commented on it he called it a 'Swing' version.

I just discovered Angelina Jordan about a week ago, and consequently, you as well, Lukas. Angelina Jordan is extraordinary, amazing, over-the-top fabulous-I want to hear her again and again. Your comments and reactions are wonderful as well. I much prefer your acute perceptions and educated ear to some reaction folks who, incredibly, seem unaware of The Beatles or Joni Mitchell or even Led Zeppelin. Bravo for this endeavor--so much more interesting and engaging than evil, heavy characters (e.g. Black List, Limitless) or even the indomitable Mr. Melk. You could probably do a good Hamlet, you know.

@@lukashasselNY Olivier was 40, Eileen Herlie as Gertrude was 29-what matters is the audience's suspension of disbelief, just as we (or I, speaking only for myself) suspend disbelief when Angelina Jordan sings "I'm a fool to love you" at age 7, and I don't care that she hasn't the life experience conveyed in the lyrics. Her artistry makes it just irrelevant. I don't ever see comments saying "It's just too unbelievable and weird for a child to be singing this." And yes, villainy is almost always often more complex and interesting than goodness, but are you typecast? Maybe it's not a concern. Work is work.

The only thing better than listening to Angelina is watching her sing while listening. It's probably good that you waited to react to this song until she did the live video. This song is just so "Angelina". The jazzy vibe, the positive message. It's just perfect for her. ...and just like you said, she is able to pull you in even more with the way she glances at the camera from time to time, and the way you can see her falling back into the song in between those glances. It is always better when you can see her sing it.

Angelina's three videos take place in nightclub ambiance, including wearing white gloves. They inspired me to comment on her official channel: "A chanteuse is defined as a female singer of popular songs, especially in a nightclub. Edith Piaf is by consensus the national Chanteuse for France. I believe that one day Angelina Jordan will be the Chanteuse for the World!" That was my spontaneous reaction, somewhat presumptuous, but it is probably not off base. She does want to sing for the world.

As a Norwegian, I've had the pleasure of following her since she was seven. Her parents have been great about it; she's a young girl who goes to school and they're very strict about her only being allowed to be a hyperstar in weekends and hollidays. But not to detract anything at all from their obvously fantastic parenting, her father works for the Norwegian oil giant Equinor and I'm sure they're in no way dependent on her becoming the hyperstar that she's destined to become. They could afford to hold her back rather than push her forward. Without being too political, I think there's a lesson in that. But I wonder, if I ever met her mother, if I could resist the urge to thank her for taking such good care of my little girl. :)
