Simeon actually only saw a baby, but he was able to look at that baby with the eyes of faith and thus recognized the Savior in him. Nothing on this earth holds Simeon anymore and he can go to his God with peace in his heart.❤️

The name Simon is derived from the Hebrew name שִׁמְעוֹן (Shimʿon), which means “listen” or “hearing”. This Hebrew name is also sometimes translated as “he has heard” or “obedient; listening”. In Greek there is no letter for the 'sh' sound, so when they wrote down a Hebrew name in Greek that had an 'sh' sound, they used the letter for 's' which they did have. So when Shim'on was named at birth, it ended up foretelling his future. He HEARD the greatest message of all time.
