With infant mortality rates running around 30% for most of those 500 years and a rule where the family fortune gets divvied if there is no eldest son of the eldest son, the Cassadine name and legacy would have died out long ago. Which is why such a rule doesn't exist in noble and royal houses (not even Russian Royalty did this.) Titles and fortunes going to the next highest ranking male. This storyline still could have worked with a more real life plot point. The fortune goes to Stefan in real life. But they could have written that Helena convinced Mikkos to disown him. But I guess Alexis couldn't have then laid claim to anything. Any fool holding on to eldest son to eldest son legacy would never think of the possibility of a daughter getting anything. (Besides, wasn't it later written that all this first born son ridiculousness was set by Mikkos to disqualify Valentin not some 500 yr old Cassadine?) Plus, the writers create this whole twisted story of how the Cassidines didn't recognize Laura's marriage to Luke because it was outside the Russian Orthodox church and then come up with the idea that Alexis has a claim on the Cassidine fortune when her mother was a mistress and not a legal wife?! The GH writers were so fk'ing lazy.

Gee, in an earlier scene Laura said she was so happy when she found out she was pregnant and the first person she wanted to tell was Stefan. But Stefan was gone. He had left the island and told no one. And Stavros died in 1983. There was no DNA paternity testing. Stavros's and Stefan's blood types would have had to be significantly different to show Stavros was not Nikolas's father. How likely would that have been for full brothers?!?! AND Nikolas was months old when Stavros died. How could Stefan has *made* Nikolas "keep a remembrance" of Stavros? He couldn't talk much less know what a remembrance was. The GH writers were so fk'ing lazy.

Bottom line for Stefan is still the same "Power". Nikolas doesn't care about power, his pride is not in the way, I think he's relieved from all the pressure...Stefan needs to tell Nikolas that he threatened Laura and sent her away, so she wouldn't tell Nikolas the truth. She wanted to tell Nikolas for over a year, and she even told Stefan the day before this scene "we need to tell him Luke knows".., so Stefan needs to "own it' that he told Laura if she told the truth to Nikolas he would go after her..

Nikolas, "Should've known you'd be here", then Charlie Brown music commences! LOL. Bonus add as I get through this #120 - Stefan acting all honorable, yet he held this over Laura's head to get her to leave the country. Yikes. Tell Nikolas that, why dontcha.

The lengths Laura was willing to betray Nikolas to protect Luke’s feelings is the only thing that secret reveals. Nikolas already knows that Stefan is a manipulator.

What do we call Nikolas and Lucky? I keep wanting to call them the Brothers...,something but clearly it’s not Spencer or Cassadine. The brothers Laura? Webber?

In my eyes there was no one but Luke and Laura. She should never be with the Cassidines. Nobody had chemistry like Luke and Laura their love suppose to be forever. Will not watch ones where Laura is with a Cassidine.

I think if he could ever get Laura out of his mind, maybe. But he's obsessed. He dresses up Katharine in Laura's gowns, keeps Laura's clothing and even Nikolas' baby shoes in a trunk. Finally, he lies about the engagement ring as being some kind of precious family keepsake from long ago. He's poisoned with his longing for Laura.

Those things only happened during the last few months of their relationship. All of 1997 made it quite clear that Stefan was genuinely captivated by Katherine and loved her deeply. They were written as soulmates. Then the writers had to screw it up by suddenly making Stefan fixated on Laura again.

Okkkk. I'm confused. So are the Cassadines Greek or Russian? Most monarchies follow the same line of succession. If Stefan is Stavros's brother then he's a prince. He's also in line for the throne. It may be way down the line depending on how many kids the oldest have but it goes children then siblings. So Nikolas is also a prince. If all of Stefan's older siblings are dead and they had no kids then he would be heir to the throne and Nikolas would follow. Stefan's status always confused me.

Yeau, Stefan's a jerk but such a gentleman with Laura. Sorry, but Stefan has much more class and heart than Luke.

Stefan is much sneakier than Luke. He fanes gentlemanliness and romanticism to trick people into thinking he’s a good guy or to trick them into thinking he loves them. He has duped so many people since coming to town.

Luke came from nothing. He was on his own at the age of 8 and taking care of his little sister. stefan was born into privilege and power. stefan has more privilege than Luke. Class is something different. So is heart.
