This is my first time ever hearing him. And this is some of the best country music I’ve ever heard in my entire life. I am completely blown away and saddened at the same time. Wow! Rest in the heaven Luke.

Most of us will never understand the challenge of living a life so closely and rawly aware of struggle. Some times it is just too much. Luke tried to share through his music, and did a damn fine job! For this I’m thankful. Rest In Peace to all of our fellow travelers who go before us. So much to appreciate, so much we will probably never understand on this side…

Luke's great song says it well. We all need to shake hands with our shadow. They're not to blame. We are. Jung was right about making friends with our shadow. They can help us with our wounds, issues, demons and desires. Opening the door to the Lord makes it easier. Can we save ourselves? It's why He came.

Once there was an outlaw, Strong and steady mount He rode to show the whole world, What he was all about. Wild and restless rustling He lived to smoke them out. He used to tear the town down Every chance he got. But someone tipped the bottle And the years came tumbling out As he stood drunk and stiff, Breathing through his mouth, He thought he was, he used to be, what he’s now. I’ve been a lot of places, held a lot of girls, Stepped out in the morning and walked around the world Smoked a mile of cigarettes and drank a bar of beer, I wore a smile so big and wild that all my friends could cheer, But something brushed my shoulder, As a drew and turned around Only to find my shadow had come to try me out, I saw I was, I used to be, what I’m now. So bundle up your memories, Put them in a sack, Hang them on a stick to hang them behind your back, To share with an old friend, Just like a photograph, I wish I had more time these days to sit and smile and laugh. I guess it ain’t so bad though, Hanging up the gun, Shaking hands with the shadow that’s cast beneath the sun. You’ll see what he was, he used to be, and what you’ve done.
