My Brother John Kelly from Waterford was buried in trent park London on 31st oct 2012 and Me and my other 3 brothers carried his coffin, along with his son and brother in law. I sang the candy store in the church and my eldest brother gave a few words, then the whole family sang the green fields of france just before we carried him out. and at the pub, the Blue Moon in Wood green we all sang for the entire duration. and I sang Peggy gordon more times that day then then I can remember R.I.P. John

"Don’t you hear it? The voice in your head that tells you what’s right and… wrong." "Nah, lad. I told you already. I only hear music." "How?" " I hear the strings first. The heart of the orchestra. The violins. The cello. Without the heart, there’s no love. No beat." "And what song plays for you, Butcher?" "It’s always changing. But right now? It’s ‘Peggy Gordon’." "Is that what you were singing?" "Then the flutes are bringing in the melody. The playful, delicate eyes. You can see right into the soul. Oh, how they make me weep. Oh, and when the harp comes in! Oh. It’s as if it makes the world come alive in music, as its mother. And as the song swells, and the music builds, I can feel my heart race! I’m alive. And then the piano!" ----- "Well, lad. Looks like you’re saved by the bell." "What?" "Well, I’ve got good news and bad news. Your pal Danny Boy is over at Lenox, holding on for dear life. Stings to say out loud." "Daniel?" "Well, that’s the good news. The bad news is, there’s not going to be any time to celebrate." "Please" "Don’t make a lick of difference, lad. You’re done as well. Sit tight. And… if you want my honest advice? Rest up. Get a wink in. I know men like Larson. I don’t expect it’ll be a quick death. Well, it’s been a pleasure, lad, truly. The hunter is nothing without worthy prey. And you are worthy. Ta, lad!" "Leave him alone! I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you! Don’t touch him! No! Come back here! Come back here! Don’t touch him!" "Once more, with feeling."

You said a lot when you said he was "the best interpreter of them all." It was not by chance that Patrick Kavanagh told him he had a song for him to sing.Kavanagh knew he could trust Luke to deliver the words of his poetry into the medium of song when he gave him "Raglan Road." Frank Sinatra was also a great interpreter of the words of a song given to him.Totally different types of singers but they were both geniuses in their own respective spheres.Who knows they might be having a right old sing-song together on the other side !!Cheers! You can feel it in your very soul. It is the chord or force that connects us with our "Irishness". A pride beyond pride. Luke, gets to the very essence of what it means to be Irish like no one else I know. Peggy Gordon typifies his great talent.
