I only came across this a few months ago and as an English man was unaware of luke kelly. How naive, it gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. He had the greatest male singing voice in the world there is so much character in it. Some songs are all about the lyrics and the way there spoken, no frills no stylised fashions just honest to goodness what you see is what you get talent. He'd piss over anybody today.

Man, they truly captured an amazing performance that night. I don't think this version has or will ever be topped.

+Mythias Williams Not even close. They have good harmonies, but the lead singer can't even touch Luke Kelly.

+Mythias Williams I have heard their version..and it's ok..not a dis, but as many people here have said, Luke Kelly was a true legend, and nobody has ever come close to the emotional way he sang..at least in my opinion..

Luke's voice is so clear and cutting. Sharp and clear. Like a triangle being rung to keep you awake. This is the perfect match of meaning, lyrics, and execution.

@@stephanierobinette4425 The 'triangle' refers to a method the British authorities would use on prisoners. They would deliberately keep their prisoners awake for days on end by ringing a metal triangle loudly from time to time in order to break their wills.
