Me too I remember watching these episodes when they first came on about 45+ years ago real time & here I am again watching through all of these for about the 100th time! But I can't stand to watch it after Luke & Laura part ways so sad such a let down after all that they went through together. Luke changed so much he turned into a cheating drunk who was always taking off leaving his family then to be matched up with Tracy Quartermaine is the worse!

A house without love . . . I myself am fascinated with these two! Such an unlikely pairing. Gloria was a genius and built the story and sexual tension between them slowly, layer upon layer. I am so thankful she did❤️❤️❤️

Watching these gems has been awesome!! I never knew Luke and Laura had such a special friendship. They shared their thoughts, confided in each other and could say anything they wanted and there was a deep respect there. They cared a lot and their feelings grew. Thanks for sharing!!

so sad that the writers totally rewrote their story starting in 1996 to 2015, when TG finally retired. I thought they were going to have them reconcile and travel around the world again like they did in 1983. The kids were grown there was no reason Luke and Laura couldn't have traveled all over the world. By the time he left the show, they had completely destroyed Luke. He was a drunk who hated being tied down with kids and mortgage. Supposedly he slept with prostitutes during the 80's and Laura didn't mind at all. BS she would have killed him. I don't watch anything after Lulu was born until Luke left in 2015. The show has gotten better since he left. I love having Laura back full-time.

Yes I love Luke &Laura God they are #1 in my book always. It tears me up to know that they are apart now. The love for each other that they had was on fire from the very moment that they set eyes on each other. Yes that first time ...it’s like if you open your mouth you be afraid to speck...Why because your afraid that butterfly’s might sneak out. Oh ..I know how hat certen feeling feels like. I'm glad at least some of this is out there because people don't seem to believe it when I say that Luke and Laura built from the friendship. She confided in him like no one else for a long time, long before these clips even. The reason fans fell in love with them is because of the chemistry that is so evident here. And it was every single week we were seeing it. Scotty and Laura were supposed to be the IT couple but they were the standard soap couple and Scotty was written like a jerk once they were married. He acted like her father. That was standard soap fare back then and how all husbands on soaps acted but times were changing and along comes Luke who talks to her like she has a brain and tries to give her his street counsel even while he's hopelessly in love with her. And then you see all of his daydreams of them and the chemistry between them, well Scotty and Laura were just doomed and we all knew it. I think Monty and Marland had already decided to delve into something shocking like acquaintance rape to try to raise the ratings, but the problem was that a great deal of the audience already fell in love with them. So they began the slow turn of their story and the audience (at least the LnL fans who were in the millions) bought into it, in part because of their chemistry, but also in part because of Laura's history of lying, especially to herself. It was too easy to wonder if she had really responded then freaked out that she did it because it was honestly consistent with her character up to that point. A lot of people who watched later didn't know Laura before Scotty or Luke. They didn't know all of her history. But at least these few clips show their chemistry and how tight they really were before the rape.

Oh yes hell there is a lot fans don’t know....yet.. How Laura when she first came to PC. The family that she thought was and lie. Later when things got straightened out Laura lives with her real mom and step Dad. Laura catches her step dad Rick up in the attic with another young woman. Thinking that the woman was trying to hurt her stepdad kills her in self defense or thing helping Rick. Later Rick and Scotty hide the body. Laura forgets because Rick drugs Laura up. They bury the body and no one is the wiser..The very short version. Ok thank you. Rosie

That said…..holy smokes you can see the carnal desire/jealousy in Luke’s face when he’s watching Laura dancing with Scotty and then imagining it’s himself holding her in his arms and making out with her! Wow 🔥🔥🔥 The look on his face gives you a hint how hot this story is going to get. Their chemistry is off the charts!! I didn’t even know there was such a big age difference between them. Whew.

I have never seen this footage before, and I didn't think there was anything left I hadn't already seen! This is so very very interesting!!! I can see how Luke uses the "accent" that comes in handy later in some other, unforseen circumstance, lol - and.... how he discusses the hot fudge sundae and side of escargo also sounds like a future time where he has those same inflections, cool! Also, when he is seemingly "mad" as Laura comes in to tell him she is ready to go celebrate, he is doing that brooding, somewhat manipulative (intentional or not, I can't tell) vibe, and Laura is wanting to come clean with Scottie about the credit care. She is realizing the future problems that can come with the complexity of multiple lies... And Luke is basically telling her it's better to keep it from him,... can't believe how this echoes the future storyline.

I have never seen LnL this far back. This really helps fill in the later story. I feel people think LnL had a few scenes together then he raped her. I myself wasnt aware how complex their relationship was. I have always been smitten with Luke, however his obsession with her is disturbing. At this point he was still supposed to be killed off. I see why they kept him on. LnL have crazy chemistry, even this far back. Thanks for fueling my addiction to this storyline. Im on my second re-watch of early LnL.

They wrote Scotty as someone who would help push Laura into someone else's arms. It was just a matter of psychology. Scotty has a deep sadistic side to him. She is young, a little delusional, and very beautiful, but good hearted. Meanwhile her man is waiting in the wings. Scotty is an abusive over reactionary jerk, who does act holier then thou. He also has some major control and explosive anger issues. It was a matter of time through pshychological events. Why would you confide in Scotty if you were Laura. He just treeted her like she was a bad little girl who should go to her room . . . and stay there. Luke on the other hand was the exact opposite. He came out front with all this anger from his past. Once that subsided, he was reduced to a pile of mushy goo for Laura every time. Most men are manipulative, predatory and obssesive for a woman they have feelings for. At the end of the day Luke won out. He was the proverbial bad boy with the good heart, that is a diamond in the rough. Scotty was the good boy, who was kind of shitty once you scratched the surface.

It’s a wonderful thing that TG stayed on the show. It was a twist to make the rape scene work, but, it worked. While so many are disgusted with that as a ‘beginning’, it was not. And, Luke’s character wasn’t supposed to stay. It’d help newer audiences if they knew the facts.

I see that Laura also says she is wondering if people were right about her being too young to get married, or handle certain situations (or something like that) which is a scene I don't think I saw, or noticed back in the day... very telling. And then... to have Scottie flipping out over finding a letter that reveals a lie that Laura told. Talk about foreshadowing!!

Music Lover Forever ITA. And that is the difference in her relationship with the two men. Scotty seemed to stick with berating Laura. Luke would more quickly forgive her her lapses, e.g. pawning the gold necklace, leaving her ID/purse on the bus to Beecher’s Corners. She learned and became street smart because Luke moved more quickly to problem solving rather than staying stuck in blame.
