Rockhold is a very skilled fighter. However, he gets in his own way at times in the mental front of the game, by buying into his own trash talk. There's a huge chasm between confidence and arrogance, and Rockhold appears to have confused the latter for the former in his last 2 fights. Fortunately, his superior grappling bailed him out in the last one.

Zahbi's analysis is on point. Luke is a more well rounded fighter. However, Yoel will finish Luke inside the second round maybe even in the first round. Luke's chin tends to get exposed when his opponent rushes into him explosively. David Branch was doing quite well until Luke wrapped his body and Yoel's wrestling is not David's.

I told you all. Some of you doubted Yoel and my prediction. As I have said multiple times, Luke exposed his chin against explosively rushing opponent. As I have predicted, Yoel Koed him. Although it happened in the third round, the fight was almost over in the second round.

Dean D yes. I get stuck in the mud too when rushed, but I’m usually bigger and bite down on my mouth piece and brawl. Vs Romero.. unlikely you’d win. Fighting on the outside is way more taxing then pressuring imo. You’re going latera most of the fight when our bodies are used to going forward. Even going backwards is exhausting. That’s why Mohammed ali ran on the tread backwards.

"If there was no time limit" argument is like saying "If there was no rules that don't allow you to headbutt and hurting your opponents' groin while they (the opponents) are on bottom" If there was no rule, fighters who are on top surely have the upper hand on their opponents period as there are many illegal and devastating attacks that they can do from the top positions without even passing guards. On the street where there is no soft mat, if Luke and Yoel fights with no time limit and rule, I would bet my house on Yoel just because his wrestling is sth far superior. That''s the reason why I think legends like GSP and DC are far (like faaaar) better than fighters like Anderson Silva and Conor. Both Silva and Conor were almost destroyed by Sonnen and Mendez with great wrestling. If that was a real fight with no time limit and rule, they would have been killed.

I dunno. Rockhold's wrestling reversals are great, but Boetsch and Weidman are no Romero. Rockhold is a truly great grappler, but I do think he benefits considerably from having strength and physical advantages over other middlewieghts. He muscles smaller guys to the ground with body the body lock from the clinch, or from opportunistic stuff like hammer-fisting Machida in the throat before pushing him over. His top game is absolute money, but I have serious difficulty picturing him flattening out Romero like he did Machida and Branch.

excellent breakdown. Its funny that most of the analysis for the fight is down to which Rockhold shows up, and not what Romero shows up, which shows a consistency. Hoping for a Rockhold win and I think he will be much better focused this time, he knows his mistakes and he knows that Yoel will be dangerous, its just going to be interesting whether this fight can get to the floor, Rockhold doesn't tend to take people down with a double leg or anything like that, it seems to stem from the clinch, and Romero doesn't seem interested in clinching...

Huge factor in Romero fights are how strict the rest between the rounds are monitored by the ref. Does the ref allow Romero to stall for a little more time. It makes a difference in 3 rds. It will be even more of a factor in 5.

Let's get to the important question: Is GSP coming back? Rockhold is far to arrogant (he will never learn from his mistakes and continue to underestimate his opponents) to ever stay at the top. I don't think he will even reach the top again, because he has a glass jaw and doesn't seem to even see those left punches coming. He is the complete opposite of a humble guy like GSP.

You never know... One bad move or slip, could change anything on the ground. We've seen it happen before. Don't expect Romero to win no 5 round decision.. That's all i'll say. I'll even go as far as saying that Rockhold stops Romero in the later rounds.
