He seems a very empathic man. The puppy, who had been woken up for this bit, went straight to him and he was so gentle with her. Dogs have an amazing ability to find people who are really gentle and kind. Not saying the other two aren't but he seemed to, right away, see in her the need for calm and gave that to her. And then he connected to Claudia's "moment" noticing the quick change in her demeanor. They all seem like genuinely nice people. Wishing them all much success in their future endeavors.
