hey, just letting yk, most ppl think Chappell Roan was Joan of Arc in that performance (not judging u for thinking that, most people think that), but she was actually Julie d'Aubigny, who, from a quick google search, was apparently 'a 15th-century bisexual French opera singer and master sword fighter who set a convent on fire to free her girlfriend', which sounds very cool. js wanting to let you know since most ppl thought she was joan of arc but she wasnt

I mean, in one hand, yeah, she could use a little media training. She could learn to let some things go. HOWEVER, I also get the impression that that she's also just fed up with how people treat celebrities, and her attitude might be not from entirely from ignorance, but from frustration. Like, she knows somewhat about how she's "supposed" to handle the media, but she doesn't care enough to do that because she's afraid of becoming a doormat, or dead. Her reasons (at least the reasons we know about) aren't wrong, while she does, in a sense, owe her rise to fame to her fans, fans can be dangerous when they're allowed to feel entitled to a celebrity's time and space. We also have to remember that she's in a lose-lose because even if she was was "cordial, but firm with her boundaries" people would still be calling her a bitch, just because she doesn't appreciate being approached all the time. It's happened before, where a celebrity was approached randomly, they were kurt (not mean, not causing a scene, just kurt), and didn't want to take a picture, and the fan goes on the internet to talk about what a jerk they were and how "they should have been nicer because they owe the fans". To most fans, a celebrity is either super welcoming and friendly or a total asshole with in between. There is no such thing as "performer on stage and for events but just a person in the grocery store". So yeah, Chappell Roan is kind of prickly in her aproach to things, and she _sometimes_ defends her boundires with more aggression than necessary, but shes kind enough to explain why she feels the way she does, and why she reacts the way she does. She wants fan culture to change.

@@mackadoodless girl, maybe nowadays thats the case. but back in the 80s and 90s, artists were known for being bold and controversial for the fun of it, and that was part of the appeal. its only in the last 15 yrs or so that we have gotten this ultra mega sanitized and perfectly packaged popstars.
