Luke a story from about 50 years ago. We had a Polish driver. This happen at his former job. He was driving down to Dorset early morning in about 7.5 ton flat bed with drop down sides, roped and sheeted. He had stopped at a traffic light and policeman walk over to him, and asked did he know his load had move as there was bulge in the sheet. And was he going to do anything about. He said yes if the officer could give him a hand. The officer the asked what the load was. The reply Hives of Bees. To which policeman wish him safe journey or something like that.

I'm not a truck driver, but have driven many miles worldwide, and worked with truck and ship freights. Enjoy watching/listening to you. For what its worth, double straps are worth the extra time and effort. Sometimes straps break or loosen off, and it can be sudden. The potential damage goes anywhere from an unplanned stop, to a mess on the road, or damaged vehicles, all the way up to somebody being badly hurt - or worse.
@lukecinahgv Жыл бұрын
One strap per row is plenty. That load could have had zero straps on it and wouldn’t have moved an inch… Anyway ,Insinuating I don’t care about someone’s life is defamation and slander which you can be prosecuted for. I recommend you change that statement Jamie Stevenson
@johnsmith9161 Жыл бұрын
@@lukecinahgv The company I work for we have to double strap everything at a minimum. Straps do break and it is better to be safe than sorry. Jamie was only offering some feedback which I think was valid. You have shown your true colours by threatening him as you have. Hopefully someone will report you to the appropriate regulator in your country so they can put everything you do under the microscope. I showed your comment to a room full of Heavy Vehicle drivers and we all agree you have proven by your statement that you should never drive a heavy vehicle again. "That load could have had zero straps on it and wouldn’t have moved an inch… " With a statement like that you are a danger to yourself and all other road users.

Top tip if you didn't know for compost bags/bark on a flatbed mate, tighten the ratchet as far as it can go, then take the tension off the ratchet and pull strap through it and then do your tail in behind strap as usual, you'll then get a good 20-30 more clicks tightening up due to the bags compression and strap not being wound heaps through the centre of the ratchet 👍im sure I passed you going south through Lanarkshire but didnt know it was you 🤙

Your lucky your company allows you to use the M6 Toll. We have to get special permission to use it. Usually the alternative would be the M6 toll split M42 come off for the A446 stay on there till the A38 stay on this till the A50 towards stoke. Then take the A500 west to the M6 and up that way. The tolls we are not allowed to use are the M6 Toll and the Humber bridge.

Not all cards allow it. They can be set up different ways to allow for different things - oil, bulbs, screen wash, truck wash etc. Luke has mentioned before paying for stuff like parking and claiming it back later so I’m guessing Harry has only the basic fuel card account.

@Regular guy then you'd expect it to cycle through all the lights and not for them all to be on constantly. I only say this because many don't realise that hazards and indicators are on different relays so while using hazards shows the bulbs work it doesn't show up any potential issues with indicator operation.

What's your drive axle limit Luke as I bet your on the limit with a 28 Tonne load, also taking on extra fuel will add to your weight
@PillSharks Жыл бұрын
I recon your right mate… I did a lot of bricks as backloads and we would started the load about 1m back from the head board and maybe put a couple over the trailer axles doubled stacked! I picked a loaded trailer in the yard for matching brick in Bristol which was a bastard to get into and the driver had loaded 26t up against the head board with the load finishing over the middle axle… the tractor which was a Volvo fh just wouldn’t turn and the steer axles just slid… I know, you would think it would be the opposite with more weight on tractor! Never had a problem with getting into the same yard with the load further back on trailer!
