Superb job restoring this classic gem. It’s me Wild Weasel Phantom (WWP). I changed my username since I am going through a change in my life and yes I am a Zelda fan. :) We gamers salute you for all the work you do to keep these historic boards and games alive and running.

Thank you so much WWP! It's great to see you still out there and making the most of life and whatever it throws at you. Hopefully I can keep up with the different name here but always glad to see posts from you. Thanks again and wishing you the best

Great work Luke! I’ve only played this version of Tetris once, but it’s fun!

When a broken leg ruins your day... Nice easy repair Luke... went for the obvious issue and got it right!

Yeah, it was a real bummer to see that leg was toast, but it was a fun little repair to get it back up and running!

I'm sure you will be able to get your chance some day. Definitely doesn't always work out like this. I've got a stackpile of broken boards that need a lot more work. Thanks for the positivity and sending it right back at you! Next time you come across a console that needs some work, hopefully you can get it running again!!

Good eye man! I looked over this board a bunch and couldnt figure it out. Was scratching my head wondering why such a clean board wasnt working.

Haha, I totally know what you mean man. Yeah, these can be tricky and I almost missed it myself. Glad I was able to shed some light on this one though! Thanks for popping in to watch the madness unfold bro

Nice fix there Luke, the black screen was kinda anxiety inducing 😅, another board saved from the e-waste grave again ! 🤘🤠 🎉

Thanks as always man. Yeah, I was thinking "oh no, did I make it worse!?" Definitely enough to get the anxiety pumping lol. Hope to get through these other boards here soon as well

That ingame music seems to be similar to one of the tunes used in the unlicensed Tengen version of Tetris on the NES/FamiCom. Also I'm still helplessly hoping for Smell o-vision because I'd really quite enjoy having a whiff of flux smoke as you work on these boards. As well as the very rare instances of creepy crawly crud and gunk odors 😁
@Code7Unltd20 күн бұрын
It's almost as if Tengen's NES game was just a home-version of the arcade game. Superior to Nintendo's offering, however.
@Cahos_Rahne_Veloza20 күн бұрын
@Code7Unltd To be honest Tengen's version IS INDEED far superior than the official Nintendo release.
@lukemorse119 күн бұрын
It was really wild and caught me off guard, I thought to myself, what kind of music is this? Lol. That explains where it might have come from. As for the smello o vision, you might be one of the rare ones who enjoys the flux and toxic fumes 😅 it may happen someday though! Thanks as always for chiming in
@lukemorse119 күн бұрын
@@Code7Unltdreally interesting point. I never played the tengen one enough to remember the music but it's definitely a neat game here
@Cahos_Rahne_Veloza18 күн бұрын
Being from Southeast Asia a majority of the cartridges for the FamiCom one could buy here at the time were either unlicensed stuff, illegal Taiwanese Pirated copies or seemingly legit ones, you can tell because legit copies come in their boxes and have a manual with mostly Japanese text. So it was only natural for us to have played the unlicensed Tengen version of Tetris instead of the official Nintendo version. Also it is ABSOLUTELY rare to find anyone with an NES back then as FamiClones were what was commonly sold here. If you had an NES it meant you had U.S. expat relatives.

I prefer the Atari / Tengen version of Tetris over the Nintendo released version, it's quite common on those 60-in-1 bootleg Famicom carts from early 90's. Music is more up beat and controls better in my opinion.
@lukemorse119 күн бұрын
Very cool observation there. I may have to revisit the tengen version again as I can't remember it all that much. Thanks for checking the vid out!

Hey Luke another survivor well done, question with regards to dead shorts, what is your general practice with regards to identifying a short between ground and 5 volts?, is it mostly a busted caps? I'm working through a board atm with a dead short so any assistance is appreciated. Cheers Franky
