Hang out with me for an unscripted and unedited ramble about things like engaging moments while teaching English, how it feels to be about to become a father again, a funny new recording of my daughter speaking English, some recent films I've seen, and a recording of me doing stand-up comedy in front of an audience recently.

Thank you Luke for showing this conversation with your daughter! It was lovely! You can't imagine how valuable and important such type of content is for non-native speakers. When we learn English, we kinda try to dive into rather difficult things like watching news, movies, translating, listening to podcasts etc, or every time we attend lessons at school or university, we learn grammar and discuss different topics. But we can't see how the language is used in a daily life, how family members communicate. It remains sort of a huge mystery hidden behind the curtains. I suppose this is why non-native speakers are able to discuss, say, business issues, but completely ruin a simple home talk.

Very true....even I use to feel this thing always...i can talk academic things effertlesly for few minutes but find no words sometimes when talking to my daughter...

Very true observation. I also have noticed many times that I can discuss politics or economy but not able have a little talk about something insignificant. And of course, besides trying to overcome a barrier to high level English, is is also vital to master the simplest one. PS: your English is incredible

Hi Luke! Thank you for another great episode of the podcast. Regarding the disadvantage of an unscripted episode that there is no script and you cannot read at the same time as you listen. I know that there used to be some kind of crowdfunding campaign of making scripts for episodes of the podcast. How is it going now and do you still need help with it? I am quite a regular listener of your podcast and I would be happy to help with scripts while improving my English at the same time. But the thing is that I prefer newer episodes to older ones just because they are usually more relevant to the current situation and include updates on your life, which is interesting and engaging (I also listen to older episodes when I have time tho). So the question is: if I would like to take part in crowdfunding scripting of the episodes, where would be best to start? If I would like to start from this very episode, is it possible? :) Terribly sorry for a long comment. Thank you anyway and have a nice day.

Listening to you, make me remember the same questions to myshelf, but my husband didn' t helado me at all. Now in Sanish parents are given 4 montes each other, one after the other one. I think your son was born at the same month of my grand son, he was born on 15 augost, a Day who nobody works here i Spain. I can undertand you perfectly, Thought I have them 43 and 36 years ago, but I was something magic, nobody can' t understand it, if they don' t have any Child. It's the nicest experiencia and biggest feelings ever, your life isn' t yourself anymore. But time flores, and one Day they leave....and the empeine you feel is also very Hard, you can' t asume they won' be here everyday, they will be living their own life, with their partiera or in their own, you can' get use to it, you never think they are going to leave one day, their life , and do or feeling the same things you did. And one Day they have a Child, and you bésame mad again, and you can even enjoy them more than your Kids,as you don' have any responsabilidad, you Just enjoy him as much as if he was your own son, well, it's diferentes, but you also love him mu h than you can imagine. When I had my kinds life was so different from the one now. But it seems to me that you should be a lovely dad. Your dauther speaks English very, very well, you must be really proud of you, i can tell she loves you really much, and It semestre very inteligente, and the nicest one, you look so happy and proud!!. Llife it's worth it living, you can' t imagine how different May be. I haven' been happy at all with my husband, we are pretty different ones, he does' t like/ love me and neither do I. I use to love him for more than 30 years, but I think he haven't love me never, I even have get the conclussion, that doesn't lo e anyone, I suffer fro. Depresión for about six years, that's awful, you Just want to die, there^s nothing which may be good for you anymore, don't feel like doing anything, Just stay alone, don^ see anyone, don't go out, or like all things you use to love. Life isn^ t worth living anymore. And as you can see, i spend the whole nigth awaKe, listening or reading the things I have been discovering, and thank to my medicinas i can spend some time doing things , but I always alone. Life hasn' been happy at all for me, only my sons make me trying to do my Best at everything I could. All my lfe were to make them happy learning as much as they could, be honest, responsable, good students, good Boys, enjoy life, find the Best partnert, be happy togheter, don' t hurt anyone, even if they don' like, it^s better run away, and try whit other one, or remain alone, do ' t expectativas People will change never ever Wrl, forget bad things and enjoy your wife and Kids, it's a wonderful experiencia, life is worth living this way, believe me. I was in love to much when I got Madrid and before, but maybe I didn' realise about to many things, and I even blamed myself, and spend almost all my life trying to be loved by him, but it was imposible, and become worst and worst tell I realice who and how he was. Got really ill, a d that' s my life, such a nightmare fore more than 45 years, I Just don' feel like living anymore, but here I am, listening very nice People, good, honest, very inteligente, People who want to do things in orden to improve People life, dedicaciónhis whole life working, learning, investigación every single Day as a scientifics, politics, Hard workers and good People who likes improving People lives . Very clever Men and women, that make mea bit hapy, that's my life. I don' t think i would live much more, it isn, t worth it , do I??????❤❤
