I play video games for at least 20 years and I couldn't believe how revolutionary death stranding felt. I still remember playing it and thinking WHOA who would thought that walking could be such an interesting mechanic. WALKING. A mechanic that everyone takes as solved in games. This guy went there and said "let me show you how cool walking can be". I also love how it throws regular videogame tropes out of the window. Hero? No. Delivery Dude. Combat? Yeah, you can ignore it for the most part. Truly a work of art. I will be glad to experience such a masterpiece again in my lifetime.
@jakubzamazalАй бұрын
While i agree DS was not the first. Take Rock* games. Why do people think walk is the standart default speed for character. With the dedication to animations and the way npc and world lives around. IMO the games are suppose to played in walking. Only run when the situation calls for it. It Like you would do in reality. You also don't fully sprint from home to work or store. It intesifies the immersion, makes you notice more details, also actually kinda boost the play time.

The reason it’s 30-40% is probably because of level design. The story is done, the filming is nearly or fully finished based on Hideo’s instagram, and we have already seen the game in a playable state. Given that the game is a sandbox, I think the majority left to make is the mission design, like designing the cargo orders and routes that they want players to take. That does not take a significant amount of time when the rest of the game and engine seems to be fully complete or near complete.
