I highly doubt they made a entire game just to showcase their “new” tech; starfield is a technical mess and is far behind most current day engines. The creation engine “2” is just marketing, it’s still mostly the same, dated toolset that has been holding Bethesda back for decades at this point. The creation engine is honestly a great testament to how stubborn Bethesda is to change and evolution. They struck Gold with their formulaic open world Action Adventure RPGS (with very minimal RPG elements), that they’ve been trying to replicate the high they got off of Skyrim, while not only misunderstanding why people loved it, but also refusing to improve and build on it.

If Bethesda wanted to print money they would lend the Fallout name back to Obsidian for a Fallout New Vegas 2 while building their own Fallout 5 side by side in the back with a secondary team. Then they would release the Elder Scrolls 6 game they are working on in around 2028, Obsidian would release Fallout New Vegas 2 in around 2029/2030 (that would be 5 or 6 years of development) and they would go all out on developing Fallout 5 for a 2031/2032 release (so they had 4 years of development with the side team and 4 or 5 years of full on development). That would be Elder Scrolls 6, then New Vegas 2 a couple of years later, then Fallout 5 a couple of years after that. Back to back to back major releases with good development time between. But I guess nah, for some reason.

1. Starfield was just dropped not to long ago. 2. Bethesda is known to be around 450 employees, compared to naughty dog having 850 and cd project red over 1200. 3. People always get hung up on how bad the shooting mechanics were in FO3 without understanding that your accuracy was meant to be hampered by player character skill and multiple other variables. Even if your reticle is directly on what you’re aiming, there are dice rolls in the background nudging the projectiles.

Because playable build means absolutely nothing. Remember that GTA6 early build of which footage was leaked some years ago? That was from ages ago, looked and most likely was playable, but was in no shape or form close to a game ready to be shipped. And here we are still waiting for GTA6. So yeah, unless we get confirmation that something is to be released, media articles are worth nothing. Oh, and by the way. You do remember when we were supposed to get Starfield in November of 2022 but had to wait till September 2023? Yeah. So delays are also to be expected, and it doesn't matter when a first playable build gets compiled.

They should do what CD Projekt RED did. They have two IPs, Witcher and Cyberpunk. So they opened a second studio and each studio is focused on one IP. That way, in a short timeframe, we will get Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk Orion.

I grew up on Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim and and hope that we get that game first even though fallout, especially after the show, would probably be a bigger money maker. ES6 with more modern engines, I hope, would be better than Starfield. Obviously the issue with Starfield was the long development process with the use of previous gen engines. I hope that ES6 and eventually the next fallout game will use more modern engines

We may get 5 more seasons of the Fallout show before Fallout 5. This revelation made my jaw drop. Fallout 76 was my first fallout. I got it when I was 15. I WILL BE ABOUT 32 WHEN FALLOUT 5 COMES OUT! I guess I’m buying Fallout 6 for my children.

A lot of these timelines seem way off to me, considering what we know about BGS development cycle, which is a 7 year timeframe at minimum. I think a much more likely timeline is as follows... 2030/2032 - The Elder Scrolls VI - So we know Starfield came out in 2023, that puts this next game at the earliest in 2030. But there is a chance for things to go wrong, I mean it's BGS so things probably will and this is likely the last Elder Scrolls, Todd works on. So I could see him wanting to do everything to make it as "perfect" as possible. 2037/2039 - BGS's Next Title - Now at one point Todd said Fallout 5 was coming after The Elder Scrolls VI but has since walked that back and said he meant it's gonna happen after The Elder Scrolls VI but it might not be the very next game after it. A lot of people like forget that comment. So this could be Starfield 2 or it could be a new IP. There is also a possibility that the plan was Starfield 2 or Starfield 76 Online but after the negative reception canceled this for now, and this very well could end up Fallout 5. 2044/2046 - BGS's Next Title - This depends on if Fallout 5 was the prior game, if it wasn't then this will probably be Fallout 5. If it was, who knows, maybe this is Starfield 2. Regardless we are looking anywhere between 2037 and 2046 for the next Fallout game. Now let's look at Obsidian's schedule and see how that'll shake out. 2024 - Avowed - Provided this doesn't get delayed, it'll come out this year. 2029 - The Outer Worlds 2 - We already know this is their next game. 2034 - Fallout Spin Off - This is earliest we could possible get a Fallout spin off title from Obsidian, which yeah is better than when BGS can pump out a new game but we are still talking a decade away. Of course none of this is confirmed and Todd seems hell bent on Fallout staying in house. As for a Larian style Fallout, it's not gonna scratch that same itch. Not even close, a top down Fallout isn't gonna cut it anymore. The originals were great for a time but now, it's gotta be that first person open world RPG. However the series might be doomed anyway as that disaster of tv show damaged the universe in a very bad away. They made it so it's going to be a post apocalyptic genre forever and it sucks. They undid everything.

I think we can all agree on that both Fallout 76 and Starfield were mistakes that ultimately didn't do much more than decrease hype for the next Elder Scrolls and Fallout games as well as delay them by multiple years.

IF Starfield is an 8 out of 10 game well Luke, there is nothing to worry about with Bethesda and most of what you have said is complete non-sense. However it is not an 8 out of 10 game and we all know it, so that is why there is concern about ES6 and Fo5, because if Starfield was 8/10 no reason to worry....Starfield is just bare bones a game next to Larian or CDPR well it is not 8/10 material now is it? Nope. Starfield would have been better if it was a 2014-15 release, pre-No-Mans Sky, before even MEA came out in 2017. Even so it would have been tough because Witcher 3 Wild Hunt was hot at the time.

A Fallout 3/new Vegas bundle with fallout 4 shooting and upgraded graphics would be a good deal, especially for playstation players who can't play them without streaming and even the streaming doesn't include dlc
