This was when Hank Jr. was pure country, true to his roots and his family tradition, before he let that rebellious hard ass attitude ruin him.

In all fairness the injuries he sustained in his accident also affected his ability to sing the way he did. Musically there is two Hank Williams Jr., the country version and the pop version and it is hard to believe it is the same person. I prefer the country version.

Hank, Senior could write 'em, but Hank, Junior I much prefer performing them, especially the melancholic ballads that contained recitatives like this one.👍👏 This gem was written by Lorene Rose around 1949 and recorded then by Hank Senior, but it was not released until 1955, a couple of years after his death. (I cannot find any Information about her.) I dearly wish that Hank, Jr. had continued in this vein and not gotten all wrapped up in that hideously unentertaining "Outlaw" music nonsense, which had ZERO appeal to me. I cringe when thinking of all of the hundreds of great songs he could have recorded, but didn't. What an ineffable waste.😬🙈😫🥺🤯🙉😫
