Actually that's partially incorrect. Homer and Krusty were to be the same person, but Matt Groening shot that down and made them seperate hence why in the episode about the Clown School, Homer dressed up to literally look like Krusty.

That way bart respected homer all along. Well the rest is history Kristy gets framed was used to show theyre two different people, and homer got to keep his job at the nucleon plant.
