my mom also made kompot for us, at least twice a year on our Rosh Hashana and Passover. tho she was already born in Israel, and so was her own mom, but they came from a Russian origin. she did make it slightly different since it was for an immediate use, not for caning, but the idea is very similar. i continue and keep her legacy by making kompot myself. our kompot is made with apples, raisons, dry Plames and dry apricot cooked with water and sugar and a splash of lemon after it was cooked for a long time on the stove top . my mom also used to make this cold served beet root borsht with a bit of sour cream on top. i make it up to thiis day. just wondering if your mon made it also. i totally enjoy your videos

Thank you for sharing your memories. Reading your post brought tears, because my мама also made all of these things, I miss her 💕. Her summer kompot was with berries, fruit, sugar on the stove. Sometimes she made it in the winter as well with dry fruit like apricots, cherries, and raisins, but dry fruit were very expensive and there were 9 of us in the house, so we saved dry fruit for baking. Thank you for keeping the traditions alive. Pass them on to your children ❤

Looks good but no dwarf peach trees to be find that did well at another house. They go out of stock fast and at bad times to buy them fincially. But do have various berries and did mostly a gooseberry one. Some ripe blueberries and strawberries I had ready.

@@lulishomestead6767 I did early summer. Kinda tastes like apple. I had tons of gooseberries from half grown shrubs. Tricky not to poke yourself on the thorns but just pull a branch out and start at the bottom and work my way up. Get a few handfuls from each branch. Just a few handfuls of strawberries and blueberries. Can't figure out why honey berries didn't bloom. Maybe too late covering with netting and deer or a frost got early blooms.

Wow I cannot WAIT to be able to try this. I have a question. My mom is 73 years old and she loves juice like this but she's diabetic. Do you think I could use the same exact process you did, and skip the sugar for my mom? If the peaches are already sweetened enough, or just enough, and she wants it a little sweeter when she pours it over ice, she could add Steviaor something to it. So do you think this same process canbe done with skipping the use of any type of sugar?

I would not recommend this recipe for a diabetic person. However, the sugar is the preservant in the recipe. I don't like to use Splenda in my kitchen. Splenda is made from sugar, and eventhough it is zero calories it is 600 times sweeter than sugar and makes people crave for sweets. I have not tried using other sweeteners. I have heard that Stevia changes in taste when cooked. Have you tried using Monk fruit sugar?

I just noticed I'm watching your Playlist called Russian recipes and there a couple videos in your Playlist that are not your videos. I was wondering if you added them here in this Playlist or if they got placed by accident. Both are talk videos about st John's wort by another channel. Not sure if you meant for them to be there or not but when someone watches your playlists those videos are being given views through your Playlist so I don't know if you wanted to help out another channel receive views. My friend in Canada named Bev her channel is our half acre Homestead she had the same thing happen with her playlists and I was helping her find them so she could remove them she had no idea they were there or how they got added.

What kind of peaches are those? My mom made pickled peaches with peaches that small. She would not make with any other kind. She peeled them and put them in whole.

There are many different varieties of peaches. One of my trees produce very little ones and the other has very large peaches.

Absolutely!!! I make apple Kompot as well, with a little lemon juice! It comes out like a mild taste to apple cider.
