Tim is great, a True musician and wordsmith. His early stuff is hilarious, and will definitely put a smile on your face. The more recent work is more serious but absolutely beautiful.

What I love is people are shocked by the lyrics but then when he goes nuts on the piano, they get distracted from the horrific lyrics to surprised at his skills on the piano.

Tim Minchin is an Aussie icon….He is the precursor to Bo Burnham, and quite frankly, both funnier & more talented musically. Outside of this song, I particularly like “Prejudice”, “Inflatable You” & “Confessions”.

If you want to learn more about Tim, I suggest starting with "Rock and Roll Nerd" which gives good context to some of his other performances. Then Prejudice, then Storm (which introduces you more to his beliefs and shows you a different side of him), then Thank You God, then finish it off with Dark Side (awesome version) which is both funny and just... well, you have to watch :). Dark Side is a good follow on from Rock and Roll Nerd. Of course all his performances are great, but I think the above few give a good understanding of what he's about and how epically talented he is.

“Prejudice”, “Inflatable You” & “Confessions”. Are great ones to continue with. After that maybe something a bit different a beat poem: "Storm" it has a life version and an animated one. I highly recommend watching/reacting to the life version (the animated one is fun to watch for yourself at a later time) "Dark side", "White Wine in the sun" and the amazing "Thank you God" Concert version, has a story at the start. And maybe throw "the Pope Song" in somewhere ^^

His kids should be teenagers now. A lot of his standup mentions his personal life. Most of it is on KZbin. He wrote the lyrics & score for the musical Matilda that's been playing in the UK for 13 yrs. And the movie musical was a recent release. True to the book unlike the Danny De Vito film

This song was probably a bad place to start, but Tim Minchin is a musical and comedic genius. I agree with Kelly Maher below; next I would go "Thank You God" first then "Dark Side -Awesome version" after that. Make sure you strap yourself in, they are bumpy rides.

@@susannariera Agreed, but for the first-time hearing, the extended piano and the angst built into the song makes the "Awesome Version" the go to for me. The version with the Sydney Philharmonic Orchestra is great as well (the byplay between Tim and the drummer is fantastic, but in my view it's a version people seek out when they want extra dimensions. You don't want to overkill.

Tim is an amazing musician, composer, comedian and actor He composed the stage shows Matilda and Groundhog Day Played friar tuck in a recent (2017?) version of Robin Hood Stared in season 6 of californication Has a current series which I can’t remember the name of but his co star is in the new game of thrones prequel aswell.

Tim Minchin is a brilliant Australian Comedian. He's been around since about 2010 or so. He also wrote the music and lyrics to the musical Matilda. My two favorite songs of his are confessions and Storm, a beat poem.

Tim Minchin is a genius, very proficient pianist and composer, an actor, a playright, a writer director and producer, voice actor and environmental activist. You name it Tim has done it, hes the genius behind the music of the broadway versions of Matilda (and the Netflix movie adaptation)and Groundhog day, he's the genius who both stars and writes his own hit TV show Upright. He also has more serious songs and has turned away from comedy songs in the past 10 years although he still performs the old comedy songs on tour. Hes also the recipient of several Oliviers and rhe 2021 Dawkins award for contributions to science and reason. To get a better grasp of his piano skill Dark side (awesome version) is a must see.

Prejudice has become my least favourite Tim reactions to watch- mostly because 95% of reactors think they get it and it’s some sort of trick and the song is just a comedy with a twist. The interpretation deserves so much more, the point is usually missed and the result is usually “oh he got me” .. I’m always left disappointed.
