Sonny, I've been a fan of yours for a long while now, and I'd just like to say this arrangement never fails to blow me away. I try to follow the bass part best I can, but time and time again, I can never finish the song. Not because it's out of my range, but because I get too choked up to continue. There aren't many pieces that hold that honor. You are truly a remarkable musician.

Thank you very much for the message :). I'm glad to read that you enjoyed my version. I know how hard it can be to listen to a cover of a song you know so well, because you've known it for years by the original artist. I experience the same with Beatles covers. It needs to be REALLY good before I don't hate it immediately :).

Hi Sonny, I stumbled upon various videos which include you when doing some research about barbershop singing. Uiteraard nu "subscribed" to your videos.

Sonny, that was simply excellent!!! I am so moved that tears are still streaming down my face even after I've stopped listening to it. This is such an incredible song to start with, which Joel wrote for his daughter, but you just add so much to it and take it to an incredible level! Sonny-I’ve recently found your channel (and subscribed!) and have been thrilled to find such a quality barbershop sound. I’ve listened to this song for about an hour (obsessed a bit, LOL). It’s sounds as if it’s one voice, instead of 4 parts singing separately-not an easy feat! Bravo!! Completely breath taking-utter perfection This reminds me of high school, singing with an amazing group under a one of a kind director. Each time I listen to this song, I’m taken right back to those times. Thank you SO much for your channel and sharing you talent with us. All the best.

Thank you for your reply Sonny. In 1947 my father started the first chapter of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. in San Jose, CA. His quartet was called The Whatcha-ma-callits. He loved Barbershop. It takes a dwarf to know a giant. We've collaborated on two occasions and I remember the hard work that went into it. And you make it seem so effortless. It seems that your lower voices have gained depth. The result of even more exercising and exploring the vocal capacity? Or just age doing what it is so devastatingly good at? Enjoy EHB, Mr Ambassador!

Now there's a salutation I could get used to :). Thank you very much for the many kind words, man. In my opinion my low notes still sound a little like forced crap :). I would like to have a deep bass voice, but I'm a real tenor and there's just no going lower than that G for me (that's on a day after a heavy vocal work-out). Still practicing every single day to get a richer sound and find a better way to sing with freedom. Thanks for taking the time to drop me a line, man! Hope all is well.

dadgummit. I wish I could find a version of this where somebody....... ssssommmmeeebody takes the bass part in a full octave slide down when resolving the chord at 3:30. that would be freakin awesome. my voice just barely allows me to do that at low volume, on a good day, if the tide is right, and the moon isn't eclipsing... but it's hit or miss.

I'm so sorry that I haven't become a patron until now. I've loved your work since the first time I heard you and Julien Neel together in God Only Knows. I'm disappointed that I missed out on knowing you earlier and you've definitely made a positive impact on my life. I'm a tenor one, but your range just blows mine right out of the water and I hope to one day be able to sing as angelic (Only word I can think of at the moment) as you. I'm new to Patreon, so I was also wondering if your older songs are still available to purchase and download since I missed when they were first put out. If I could, I'd just listen to you sing on my drive home from my college. (4.5 hours)

Hey Colton, I'm glad you joined the Patreon party man :). Thanks for the support. Glad to read that I have a positive impact on people :). Just keep going and keep raising that bar. Don't ever be 100% satisfied with yourself as an artist. There's always room for growth. Keep comparing yourself with people that are way better than yourself and you'll find that when you practice enough, the gigantic distance between the both of you isn't that big anymore :). Best feeling in the world!! Just send me an email (sonnyvandeputte@gmail.com) and I'll be able to help you out with the previous songs I released on Patreon :).

+Maria -chan That's too kind :). Thank you so much but it's 90% in the arrangement, so the credit goes Kirk Young really :)

What an amazing performance and arrangement. So lovely! Is it available to buy?
@sgtsonny8 жыл бұрын
+Clive Stocker It sure is! You can even download it for free if you'd like right here: sgtsonny.bandcamp.com. Thank you very much for stopping by and leaving the kind words :)

+Sonny Vande Putte Could I buy the sheet music arrangement too?
@sgtsonny8 жыл бұрын
+Clive Stocker Thanks for the download, Clive! Unfortunately I can't sell the sheet music, since this isn't my arrangement, sorry! I suggest you send an email to the arranger, since I can't find where to buy it online either. You can contact Kirk Young though kirkjyoung@gmail.com if I'm not mistaken. Good luck with that!

where can I get the arrangement of "and so it goes" for women and learning tracks as well please???
@sgtsonny6 жыл бұрын
Hi Pam. Are you looking for 'And so it goes' or Lullaby (Goodnight my angel)? Because this is the video for the latter, hence my question :). Either way I can send you to the official page to buy either one of those. For learning tracks it's best if you send me an email (sonnyvandeputte@gmail.com), because for now I only have the male arrangement as learning tracks. But drop me a line and I'm sure I can help you out.

Sonny, is there any way we can purchase a karaoke version of this arrangement?

There sure is! Send me an email (sonnyvandeputte@gmail.com) and we can work something out. Take care

je komt naar Portugal? Briljant...

Dat is jammer genoeg nog niet zeker. Ik zet alles op alles om het rond te krijgen, maar het heeft tamelijk wat voeten in de aarde :)

Why did you leave out the dramatic part of the song where Billy Joel composes a segment in a Minor Key? If you had included that, it would have been perfect.....
@sgtsonny3 жыл бұрын
I LOVE that part, but I didn't arrange this song myself. You'd have to ask Kirk Young :)

How are you with singing the music of Neil Young, Sonny?
@sgtsonny9 жыл бұрын
I hardly sing any music by Neil Young. I'm not a big fan of his :)

May I ask you another question? Are any bands in Europe using steel guitar?
@sgtsonny9 жыл бұрын
amiedetherese Sure there are. I'm not that much into music where they use steel guitars, so I can't name any bands right now. But we sure do have a truck load of bands that use steel guitar. Why wouldn't we? :)
@amiedetherese9 жыл бұрын
Clearly, Sonny, you are not destined to be a cowboy without steel guitar! That sophisticated Cole Porter song you did with Julien was wonderful, very different from music using steel guitar and harmonica.

ja klopt! De nieuwe dirigent heeft dit nummer toegevoed met jou als track.

I think you’re really fantastic and I listen to your stuff a lot and, if this quarantine is ever over, my quartet might be getting some learning tracks from you. However, on this song I think you set the pace way too fast to really get the best out of this song. I much prefer the recording by Danny Fong: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3SbhIOBebpjj7M. Just an opinion!
