A bit of fun with the looper. The guitar parts and some of the other parts all popped into the looper so you can play the whole song. enjoy!

Hi great tutorial I saw your reply to the comment about that Amp affect you’re using I don’t know what Afect I can use to get the same sort of sound on my amp I have Jc clean,black panel,Brit combo,classic stack and r-fier stack. Can I use any of these to create a similar sound to yours
@StevoGuitar
@StevoGuitar 3 жыл бұрын
The simple answer Thomas is that i just don't know. However, The rp 360 that i use, you can pick up for less than 100 quid. There are 100 preset sounds and 100 that you can program. Each sound can have up to 8 effects, and you can set 3 of these to the footswitches. May sound complicated but all you do is hook it up to a laptop and experiment. I'm not trying to sell you one but, for the money , to me its a no brainer. Any way, i digress, the main pedals being emulated are a bit of reverb and this de-tune pedal which i have to confess have no idea what it does or is supposed to do....came across it by accident and thought it sounded a bit like The Cure.....Sorry i cant be more technically gifted. Hope i've helped rather than confused.

Dear Stevo, immensely helped by a lot of your videos, thank you sincerely. Currently practicing by the Smiths from your excellent video lesson. I've got a question: I'm constantly amazed by the accuracy of your chord sequences. Do you figure them out yourself? Theory-wise I don't have any problem, but since I'm very much new to the guitar, being only familiar with monophonic string instruments i.e. cello or contrabass, I've been having some trouble in identifying and deciding finger positions for chords and such. On a keyboard instrument it feels much more straightforward to me for example, as that's how I learned harmony-not sure if this situation is explained well enough, but would you have some tips for mapping out and deciding finger positions on guitar? Thank you!
@StevoGuitar
@StevoGuitar 3 жыл бұрын
Hi professor, Thank you very much for your comment. I seem to have fooled you into thinking i can play. 😅I thought an in depth question deserved an in depth answer....This is how i do it...........soooo...There is no theory for me. I learned to play from other wonderful guitarists on you tube. No music teacher, i cant read music. So what right does that give me to teach others, well none really, but, what i found was... that i had a certain way of learning. So some of these tutorials, though done by very good players, i couldn't take it in. This is the reason i decided to do my own videos. Not because i think i am a good player, far from it, but because i realised that there must be others that needed a slightly different style of teaching. I try to teach it how i find it easy to be taught if that makes sense. Sooooo ....... Mostly , i figure the chords out for myself., but,, every now and then ,if i just cant put my finger on a chord. I have to go deeper. The main thing i use is live versions played by the bands themselves. Not always easy as the cameras tend to be on the frontperson. Tabs are great as a start point but they don't really give me the feel of how its played. Sometimes i watch other tutorials from some of these wonderful guitarists on you tube. As for finger positions on the guitar. Well, most of the chords played up the neck of the guitar are just the open chord shape moved up the neck with the barre added. Em, E, A, Am, A7,Am7. Obviously there are loads of variations but these will cover most. I hope i haven't burst your bubble but i really appreciate the comment as it makes it worthwhile posting the vids. Thanks again.

@@StevoGuitar Dear Stevo, Thank you for your reply in such clear explanations, your genuine willingness to help me out is really touching, much appreciated. It is only impressive and encouraging to know that you are self-taught, since to my ears you produce incredibly clean sounds with natural hand movements--a quality I absolutely admire from seeing string players. It is all the more relevant to me since I'm definitely not from a musical background. I went through my adolescence with avant-garde music, which eventually made me decide to be a contemporary music composer when I was 19 without any experience in writing or performing music. Learning in a realm of academia I did feel insecure for a while about this unusually "late" start--even though my fellow students and colleagues were highly open-minded to strengthen me with their aids and encouragements--of becoming a professional musician, but as I turned 23 this year, it is of no doubt that the sheer joy of music is what I feel the most... Thank you again for your comment, and for excellent tutorials--you are an incredible musician who shares important things to many, even if you don't particularly feel that way.

For the money its a Perfect option for just messing around with.

Nice -- what effects and amp are you using to get that ringy tone?
@StevoGuitar
@StevoGuitar 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. An interesting question. My amp is set at a fairly clean tone most of the time so its mostly the pedal thats giving the ring. I use a digitech rp360 which emulates loads of amps pedals and speakers but it seems that the predominant pedal that is giving that chime is something called a detune pedal!!! Ive actually called the patch 'chimey' lol I was actually looking for something that sounded a bit like an acoustic. Hope that helps!
