Thank you Emma for another lovely podcast. Its always a delight to listen, watch while having a cuppa. Following your last podcast I too watched the tutorial for the 'Miss Marple' scarf. I finished mine yesterday and I am so pleased with it. I wore it for the remainder of the day...inside! Looking forward to seeing how your paper piecing comes along. Something I have not yet tried. Take care. 😊

I always enjoy your podcasts Emma, you’re so inspiring! Congratulations on your Miss Marple scarf - it looks pretty and cozy 👍🏽. A great resource for EPP are the Vintage Sewing Box videos from Emma Jones - she speaks about templates, needles, thread, glue, etc. very easygoing and encouraging. Thanks for all your book recommendations!

I’m so glad you loved The Dictionary of Lost Words, I too had watery eyes towards the end. Your Miss Marple scarf came out beautifully, I’m going to make one in preparation for our Winter. You’ve also inspired me to try quilting, a neighbour helped me make a pot holder when I was a child and I remember enjoying it but never progressed. I’m currently reading Honeybee by Craig Silvey, a modern story about a young person trying to live life as their true self. Not my usual genre but came highly recommended and I’m enjoying it so far. Thank you for another lovely episode Emma, stay well 😊

Thanks Jo, I just adored it - I’m so glad you prompted me to pick it up! Yes you must make one - I can see me getting a lot of wear out of it. I’ll go and have a look at Honeybee thank you! Sending love, Em xx 💕

Hi Emma, your first EPP flower looks great! The needle you got is the right one to use but I would recommend a finer polyester thread. I use Bottom Line thread by Superior threads in a neutral colour, it’s a 60wt thread. It’s fine and also strong and it lets your stitches ‘melt’ into the fabric. Other brands you could use are Invisivil by Wonderfil or Aurefil 60wt. You are absolutely right though, it’s all about just starting and you will feel your way through it. A warning, it can become addictive! Happy Stitching 🧵

Oooh thank you so much, that’s really helpful! I will go and look up some of those threads to see what I can get hold of. I can imagine it getting very addictive… all those beautiful fabrics 😍💕 Thanks again, Emma xx

I too love paper piecing, right just start use needle and thread that works for you! I've done many baby quilts and now doing a cover for my sewing machine it's endless ,one sits under my tea kettle.

Thank you! That’s such good advice… I think sometimes we overthink the process especially when it’s something new. I bet your baby blankets are well loved! Emma xx

Another lovely episode, you are always a delight. Your Miss Marple scarf is so cute and I love the English paper piecing, it’s so pretty. I’m reading Playing Nice by JP Delaney, a thriller about two couples whose two year old boys were found to have been mixed up as babies and I can’t stop reading it! Each chapter just compels you to read on, it’s totally enthralling. Thank you for the book recommendations and enjoy February 🧶🧵📚

Thank you lovely. Can you tell I’m a bit in love with the scarf 🤣 I will keep a lookout for the JP Delaney book, I’ve not read that one but it sounds like something I would enjoy! I have read ‘The Girl Before’ by the same author and I remember it being a real page turner too. Sending love, Em xx

Love your podcasts! I'm a new subscriber and I've watched all the episodes (can't find episode 1-5 though), and you do inspire me so much! At the moment I'm making a crochet blanket for my sister in law. She'll be 40 this summer and has made a wish for a crochet blanket. I'm also working on a shawl (Sunrise from Hobbii) for my cusin's daughters. Love to crochet while I watch your podcasts. I can recommend 'Kate at the last homely house' if you need tips and tricks for patchwork and quilting. Her podcasts are wonderful too.

Hello - Lovely to ‘meet’ you here! What a wonderful gift for a special birthday, I’m sure it will be treasured. I love to crochet and watch/listen to podcasts too so will definitely have a look at Kate at the last homely house - thank you! Sending love, Emma x Ps I’ve tried to link the first episode below - I think they should all be there in chronological order if you go to my channel and select ‘videos’ xx kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6fKoZ2cnK95hLc 💕

The thread you got is for actually quilting by hand (joining together the pieced top, the wadding, and the back). Here in Tennessee, USA there's a big quilting tradition and I learned how to do it. You use very sharp needles, called in-between. I would use cotton or all-purpose thread to do the piecing. I had to stop watching you and run to my library to get the Dictionary book! Hugs from Tennessee!

I just love your Miss Marple scarf. It is dandy! Also wanted to mention that you have inspired me to read Nina Bawden again. Thanks so much. Maybe you could make a potholder from your English paper pieces?

Thank you! Yes a potholder would be a wonderful idea. I’ve been reading a lot of Nina Bawden recently I think I’ll share some thoughts in a vlog maybe - I thought I may also try some of her adult fiction too see how it compares. Sending love, Emma xx
