Very modern sounding! It's a great tune. I particularly like the Jack Payne version on Rex.

They do sound as if they were recorded in the 1950s in the jazz revival age rather than mid 30s. l quite like their music but at the same time l sometimes find the music is played a bit too coldly..The records sold very well and they continued recording into 1938.However 34/35 was their most interesting musically

+sleeplessinsale Quite right. I think the trumpet on "Son in law" was not the same guy as appears here. I had read that 6Swingers were strictly a studio band, and so different musicians probably used all recording under that name. Swingers did the best version ever of mothers son in law. Even better than Goodman version.
