04:50 - A replication of the 1999 rhythm perhaps? 🙂
@DeftAudioАй бұрын
Not a replica though :) It was recovered from Prince LM-1 that was used for live shows (still belongs to original musicians). We can't share a data dump but we were allowed to play it on Luma-1 and record it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opnTgGmNeJh_r8k

@@DeftAudio - So, nothing was reprogrammed or done by you at all? Very nice, in that case. You're lucky to have got the original, if that's what it is. Anyway, I did get the song pattern correct then = Goody goody gumdrops, ha ha! 🙂 Nice video. A beautiful machine. I hope an affordable copy is made one day.
@michaelmasuda709619 күн бұрын
There’s one more sound that wasn’t accessed here that Prince loved to use, which was different from the “clap” sound. It’s more of a “pop” sound but I’ve never been able to figure out if it is a stock sound or something that needs to be installed as an expansion. It’s distinctly different from the “clap” tone and wondering if your machine has it as part of the arsenal. Prince used it a LOT as an accent tone in his programmed rhythms from “1999” onwards. Anyways, thanks for the demo-your drum machine is an amazing replica!

It's very clever stuff. Bravo! If I could have one wish it would have been that you kept the original colour scheme of the LM-1. That Orange/Brown combo looks really cool; maybe it is a legal issue why you had to change the colour scheme? Amazing work to re-create the LM-1.
@DeftAudio4 ай бұрын
We thought it won't be right. The color palette evolved during production runs and faded differently on units in a filed. It'll be always somebody who see the difference to the original units. Another reason is readability in the dark environment. It's hard to see on LM-1.

So you swapped the button board and fader board and display board on the lm-1 to look just like the luma 😀 didn’t t the original fader buttons fit to the new faders?
@DeftAudio2 ай бұрын
It has a big history. Many Luma-1 parts are designed to retrofit the original LM-1. This way we can support all original LM-1 customers no matter of it's damage and repair needs. That LM-1 had serious issues with it's panel. So it was completely replaced. The drum board is still fine. Original fader caps won't fit new production faders (I mean, they may fit with some rework but aren't designed for them). There are new production fader caps that match the looks nicely. You'll find it in our Instagram :)

Will luma1 knobs and buttons work on a LM-1? I have a friend that needs some parts.
@DeftAudio7 ай бұрын
Luma-1 front panel consists of three boards - a small board for 2-digit LEDs, a mixer board with faders and top pots and the large board with all other buttons. The mixer board of LM-1 is different, see it has one row of pots only. Other boards are cross compatible (including a pinout) and we have LM-1 mixer board too (with one row of pots). Those go as fully assembled pieces or kits. The buttons or pots alone wouldn't fit into LM-1 PCB.

@DeftAudio6 ай бұрын
It no longer needs eproms, all sounds are reloadable on a fly from the SD card inside. However, there is still one EPROM socket. It's made for dumping purpose, i.e. if you have ERPOMs from other drum machines, Luma-1 can dump those for you, save ti to a file and play.

There s no intention from me to depreciate this project. I hate software emulation. But a non official new edition ( if u don t want to call it “” a clone””” ) at a high end price is an issue. No one will be interested to buy a fake Ferrari even if you make a nearly same engine and car design. Why you didn’t team up with Roger Linn to issue a re-edit of the LM1 under the brand Roger Linn Design ?
