I’ve been using mine for 11 weeks and I love it. It’s important for me to know what my metabolism is doing throughout the day. I would also add that meeting your macros is VERY important. It was hard for me to get into fat burn because I was rarely meeting the grams I was supposed to. Also remember that blowing 1’s and 2’s does not guarantee weight loss, just like blowing 3’s, 4’s and 5’s don’t automatically mean weight gain. Right now, I’m a steady 3 in the morning but I’m still losing 1.5 - 2 pounds per week. I get frustrated that I can’t seem to blow lower numbers in the morning but as long as I’m losing weight, I don’t get too down on myself. The important thing is to keep trying and not give up. Our bodies are used to how we’ve been eating for 20 and 30 plus years and it takes time for the changes to come. Glad you’re happy with your Lumen and your results. Great video!
@GadgetInspector Жыл бұрын
Thanks for chiming in India, great insights! You’re right, hitting those macros is the key and everyone is different. So many other variables come into play so staying consistent there is critical. I never knew how much poor sleep was hindering my weight loss and yeah, I always knew you shouldn’t eat late but now I have the data to show me the impact of that. It’s all about results and not getting too tied to the levels. Glad you’re enjoying the journey!

This video is very well done & very well explained. This thing is interesting. Idon’t love that it depends on an app, given that OS updates, server shut downs, etc can kill the app & the device. Plus, it’s another monthly fee, correct? I have enough of those right now 😑 …that said, your video was extremely helpful.
@GadgetInspector7 ай бұрын
Yea, unfortunately it's $19/month. The thing I've found after using it for a while is that it becomes an accountability partner. Lately I've been blowing 3s and 4s so that has prompted me to watch how late I'm eating, when I'm eating carbs and how much active I'm being. It's cool to have pretty much real time feedback on your behaviors.
@AlienFrequency7 ай бұрын
@@GadgetInspector gotcha. Yeah, it's very interesting, and I'm sure it'd help me in my daily fitness and all... but yeah, the reasons I mentioned about the app kinda kill the deal for me. $19 per month sounds pretty steep too. I do DDPY every single day, and that doesn't even cost $19 a month.

Just a note on boost days as another Lumen user. Your fats on boost day are just a little bit lower than on a low-carb day (for me maybe 2 or 3 grams lower). It seems like low fat because the carbs are so much higher so you still have to be careful of your carb sources. The day that's really low in fat is the medium carb day. The reason for this is on your medium cab day your calories don't change at all and on boost day they raise them some.
@GadgetInspector Жыл бұрын
Thanks for clarifying that! So much to learn along the way. Since I shot this video I’ve actually had 2 boost days. I had forgotten how to eat a lot of carbs! It took me a minute to get over the psychological barrier. I haven’t gotten anything higher than a 3 though after eating high carb meals.
@chiefschicktx Жыл бұрын
@@GadgetInspector 3 is still successful but from what I see if you start out getting 1s and 2s pretty easily you have a hard time getting 4s and 5s for quite a while... except at night. I still have to do my boost at mid-afternoon to get a 4 and then not always.

In regards to your body starting to burn carbs around the 14 hr mark of a fast, where is it getting the carbs from? Glucose or glycogen stores? I thought the point of fasting was to burn off those stores to promote fat burning. Don't dump on me, this is a legitimate request for understanding.
@GadgetInspector4 ай бұрын
No it's a great question because a lot of how the body works is counterintuitive. The body stores carbs as glycogen in the muscles and liver. My understanding is that if you fast for an extended period your body goes into stress response and taps into stored glycogen. My guess is its possible to have more stores dependent upon your diet and just takes longer to deplete them. And...the flexibility of your metabolism plays a role as well. But....we're talking relatively short fasting periods--14, 16, 18, etc. Go on a 3-day fast and I'm pretty sure you'll be burning fat.

I use a fitbit watch and the app. Does this hinder the lumen because I'm not using an apple watch. And if you had sleep issues, have they improved using this device? Thanks.
@GadgetInspector5 ай бұрын
Nope, there’s no conflict between Fitbit and lumen. The lumen is really a standalone device that can capture data from other apps such as weight, meals, and sleep. My sleep hasn’t really improved any at all but that’s because I’m still a night owl. But it does reflect when I’ve had a good nights sleep vs. not.

DON’T BUT THIS PRODUCT - Warning their return policy is not existent if you have even opened the box. If you’re not happy with the readings, too bad. If you have a medical condition (like myself) and cannot get enough breath to complete a reading, too bad. They wont take it back. Again, If you have even opened the box but never used it they wont take it back, No refunds. My readings (when I could even complete a full breath 1 time out of every 6th try) were all over the place. Not accurate and their “studies” are done in house with plenty of bias.

So sorry to hear this. It took me a few tries to get the breaths down but now it's second nature. I am very surprised by your experience because I've been impressed with their timeliness on addressing questions and concerns I've had.

@@GadgetInspector you know I'm sure it's a good product if I could even use it but since I have a medical condition and it's hard for me to get that breath I can once in a while get the breath in for the 4 seconds but then it's hard as hell to keep it in for 10 seconds without coughing. But their return policy is ridiculous that you can't even return it if the box is open at all. That's 180.00 down the drain if someone is unable to use or if it just doesn't work for them. Sad.

@GadgetInspector4 ай бұрын
Hi there. Not sure what you're asking, but if you're referring to intermittent fasting the most common intervals are 16:8 and 14:10. That means that you fast for 16 hours with an 8 hour eating window and just repeat that everyday. I found that 14:10 works best for me, but you could certainly shorten that to fit you.
