Joy Bernhardt - this is a free Update to version 2.0. You need this update on your machine for the Upgrade that must be purchased from a Dealer.

I’m getting an error when trying to install update 2.0. I formatted a new usb drive and downloaded the update and extracted all files to the usb. Should I extract files and just leave them?

Earnestine Collins - when the file is downloaded to your computer. Just copy it to the USB stick. Make sure the file is on the root directory of the USB stick and there are no other files on the USB drive. The file is named XP_V200_d_P.upf. While holding the automatic threader button, turn on the machine. Insert the USB in the top USB port of the machine and select Load. Attach your embroidery arm, get the scanning frame ready by removing all magnets, and go to Embroidery. You will get a message to attach the scanning frame. Follow the on screen prompts.

When new updates are downloaded does it also update the manual in the machine?

Leah Geary - yes, however when new videos are added, you will see a notification telling you to update the videos. I am hoping that this will become transparent with the new Wi-Fi features. By the way, the manuals for the Upgrade kit 1 will be a separate pdf file. Heck your machine PDF to see if it has been added.
