This is great!! I used to just drag photos from LR to LN. Now I can just load them quickly!

What do you mean drag them from LR? If you're importing to LR you don't need to do this. You should use Edit In for one image at a time

Thank you! If not for people like you who take the time to make these kinds of videos, I'd never be able to use Luminar NEO. I don't understand why the developers think it's a good idea to hide what should be something basic. There are many things that even free programs do better than NEO. (I wish I'd never bought it, but since I did, I want to be able to use it.)

Yes it is hidden and I myself only discovered it by accident recently.

Thanks for the content. I do almost the same thing but put the folder on an external hd. I keep a hd for every year. Probably will not import into luminar, using the sys hd and slowing it down. Thank you for the content. Always good to learn

The separate drives are just Homes for files. Now is NEO would simply have all Picture files available like almost all other editor programs from the folder tree for the computer being used, then workarounds etc. would be avoided.

Thanks for this, I’m new to Neo and was having trouble getting images off the SD card. Do you have a video on how to move LR catalogs into Neo.. thanks.
@DigitalPhotoMentor2 ай бұрын
No because you can't do that. It's not possible
@paulbursey51232 ай бұрын
Thanks, I just can’t find away to move these images from LR to Neo, other than dragging a fold from my external HD into my computer with Neo, which is now fill up…?
@DigitalPhotoMentor2 ай бұрын
@@paulbursey5123 No you don't need to MOVE the images from anywhere. Both of these programs run as a database with a catalog. The images live wherever you saved them on your hard drive, NOT inside the program. So to get them into Neo you just have to go to Neo and click ADD PHOTOS and add them. But you won't get your edits from LR coming over, that isn't possible. Are you canceling your Adobe membership? Why do you want them out of LR and into Neo?

Thanks for your video. The way you demonstrate is a very easy way to get them into Neo. Well these photos still show up in Adobe bridge? And where would they be located in bridge?
@DigitalPhotoMentor10 ай бұрын
Adobe Bridge just views the contents of your hard drive directly. So it will show the images wherever they are on the drive.

I wish I knew this when I first installed Luminar. I have the same pictures in more than one album and folder as well. I have deleted over a thousand trying to get some organization going. My "Luminar Neo Pro" software doesn't need to be told to import photos, it just does it when I open an SD card or thumb drive; and places them in "catalog" and where ever else it wants to. I am frustrated because I know this has to be wrong. I have "Photos" on my iMac since way before Luminar Neo and so far they have been left alone; there are over 4 thousand of them. Also, if I import a photo from my hard drive into Luminar to edit ,and then send it back into "Photos", it comes back unedited, though the edited version stays with Luminar. I need to learn Luminar Neo from start to finish in an intelligent, organized way. I look forward to learning how to use it correctly. Should I just uninstall Luminar Neo and reinstall it? Would I lose all the edited photos I already have? I really need to get organized and quit trying to run blindly into this awesome software. I once, no twice tried Photoshop, and as you can probably tell wasn't successful. I am a pretty good amateur photographer with a few years experience, but very little in editing. I learned I needed to take well composed shots with proper lighting and try not to edit. Well the little I've gleaned from Luminar showed me how wrong that was.
@DigitalPhotoMentor10 ай бұрын
What do you mean by "Luminar Neo Pro software"? There is only one software, we all have the same one. And what do you mean by it puts them in the catalog and wherever else it wants? Luminar doesn't put your images anywhere. When you add them to the catalog it is just indexing the files already on your computer. There is also no way to duplicate images in Luminar except for the method I showed in this video. As for using Luminar as a plugin for Apple Photos app - there are two ways to send it from Photos to Luminar so it depends on how you are sending it. If you right click from the main Photos library and choose to send it from there - you'll see the Luminar catalog module and it sends a COPY to Luminar but you are correct it does NOT update back in Photos. You'd have to export it from Luminar and import that one back into Photos. If you want it to return to Photos with the edits applied, then you need to first take it to the Photos edit tab and click on the 3 dots at the top of the screen. I teach this in my Luminar Neo course, do you have it? I show both options and the difference and when to use each one. www.digitalphotomentor.com/luminar-neo-course/
@myfakeguuglaccount830710 ай бұрын
I just export a jpg of any edits I've applied. The RAW file stays unmolested (save for the nondestructive Neo edits), and the edited jpg is ready for sharing.

@@DigitalPhotoMentor I am not sure of a lot of this, but my subscription says Luminar Neo PRO YEARLY then it says 2/2 Activations. I am sorry if I am causing confusion here, but all I am saying is what I have on my iMac about this editing software.
@DigitalPhotoMentor10 ай бұрын
@@mikeshannon6465 that's just the license and subscription you have. The software is just Luminar Neo, that's it. Nobody has a pro version of it. As for the duplication issue, that is happening some other way likely. Unless you imported using the method in this video more than once from the same memory card or folder, you shouldn't be getting dupes. I can't really answer this unless I can see your computer, sorry
@mikeshannon646510 ай бұрын
That's ok. It is on me because I messed up installing the photos from the beginning without any guidance. I am uninstalling "Luminar Neo" it all the photos and disorganized files. I will reinstall it and proceed using better judgment and step into this amazing software as I should, from a beginner's perspective. You are a kind teacher; I will look into some of your classes as well. Have a nice day! ☺@@DigitalPhotoMentor

@DigitalPhotoMentor8 ай бұрын
Not sure it's new, I just discovered it. Have you used it all along?
@bradnsue26610 ай бұрын
Thanks, but not for me. My work flow for transferring files from memory card to Neo is simply this: Insert card into laptop and open ---> Highlight files to be transferred then reduce size of window so I can see icons on desktop ---> drag files to a pre-created folder on desktop. From there I just open up the folder, right click on an image I want to edit ---> open with ----> left click on Luminar Neo (or another editing programme that I might want to use, like Lightroom or Affinity) and then start editing. Easy peasy! If I want to work on more than one file, I simply highlight the files I want, reduce size of window so that I can see the icons on my desktop, left click on one of the highlighted files, hold and drag & drop onto the Neo icon. All my photo files are named & organised into folders on a separate external drive, so when I've finished editing images from the folder that was on my desktop, I simply drag that folder into the appropriate folder on my external drive then delete it from my laptop. I use several editing programmes for different purposes and don't store any of my photos on them or on my laptop.
@DigitalPhotoMentor10 ай бұрын
Awesome, sounds like it works for you.
@myfakeguuglaccount830710 ай бұрын
That works. Darlene's method still keeps the files in whatever folder you select, though. Not sure if there's some confusion about that from your comment. You're just using Neo to set up the folder (and even the drive) you want the photos to go to.
