There’s something about the first 10~15 seconds of this video that just make me reminisce. The cello, the guys voice introducing, the build up to the song, it just does something to me. I listen to this clip so much, the whole video is just perfection. The Melody’s, how the music ties up with the vocals, a masterpiece of a performance.

Easily the best performance of this song. The cello and Neyla's voice are much more prominent than in other versions. I don't think they showcase her enough in their music.

That is the reason she spilt up with the band
@virgilhilts39248 ай бұрын
@@sudershenstinson6307 Yup Thats because Schultz's ego couldn't handle her and it showed over the years. I remember in early shows both her singing and playing were potted up equal to Schultz and Jeremiah, she would also play multiple instruments not just the cello. Then as time went on I started to notice she was being potted down lower and lower, first her voice then her playing. You'll also note that eventually she would only play cello and no other instruments. Speaking of singing, she would ALWAYS garner far more applause than Schultz, especially when singing "unnamed/falling". He would do the first line and there would be a bit of applause, then after she did hers the crowd would always go nuts. Eventually it would appear that he would get pissed, you could actually see it in his face, which is why I think they dropped it from their live shows. Another thing to look for is how he treated her on stage. Early there was the normal back & forth and playing off each other, but then it started to look as if he didn't even want to look at her. After they last song they would all hug each other except when Schultz got to her, he would just give her a weak handshake then quickly turn away, after I noticed that I knew something was up. Not long after I noticed she was being physically isolated on stage farther away from everyone else, eventually being put in that sort of fenced off area. You could also see in her face that she was no longer having fun and pretty much going through the motions. She and Jeremiah always seemed to be smiling and having fun early on, but eventually she just looked miserable. Sad because I personally thought she was the brightest spot in their show, both her and Jeremiah. At that point I had a gut feeling she would be gone soon and sure enough the next year I heard she had left. Neyla was pure class in every aspect, when I saw the new girl rolling around on the floor like a fool I just felt sad for them. Hopefully Neyla continues on, keeps smiling and having fun.
@joecepp52184 жыл бұрын
Neyla is magical. She was so underutilized on the albums, but in concert and live shows she's AMAZING. Can't believe they didn't use her more. The new Album III doesn't have the same heart/charm without her. A big loss for sure.

I am so pissed. Imagine how AMAZING it would've been for her to be in the albums and even having a couple solos. They would've gone and sold twice as much. The duality of a man and a woman singing is underappreciated, especially when it's two singer of a high caliber like in the Lumineers case

This is one of the most touching and accurate songs to me. "Its better to feel pain than nothing at all". Why I stayed in a long relationship and put up with lying and cheating. No one could tell me anything.
@finleytyson66392 жыл бұрын
My first ever boyfriend was long distance. We shared music with each other all the time and he was the first boy I ever felt truly connected to and I truly felt like he was my soulmate. He was 3 years older than me keep that in mind. We talked all day and night from October 2020- February 2021 and in January he told me he was moving in with his brother in another state. In March we started talking less which broke my heart but he said he was struggling and needed time to focus on himself. I cried for an entire week and didn’t eat it was bad. After 2 weeks of not talking we still follow each other on everything and I opened Instagram to see him on the beach holding a girl and the caption was a heart. He didn’t move in with his brother, he moved in with her.

I've been there. Not nice when you love someone who has cheats on ya and shows no respect at. Everyone should experience it because it will make you a better person from it.
@alexandriaocasio-smollett50789 ай бұрын
Been there. I don’t know why we stay. And then after we leave jump right back into another unhealthy relationship like a bug to a zapper on a hot August night. I’ve given it a lot of thought over the years. Mostly because I don’t want it to happen again. What I’ve come up with is I suspect it’s an individualized mix of pride, ego, fear, insecurity, and the dynamic that “it’s easier to fool someone than it is to convince someone they’ve been fooled“. So I decided to stay out of relationships long enough to understand why it happened. To jump right back into another relationship wouldn’t be fair to myself or the other person. I’m grateful I did that because it bought a measure of clarity.

That's such a negative way to interpret the words. The actual meaning is It's better to feel the pain of breakup than to stay in a toxic relationship and feeling numb and nothing.

@@finleytyson6639 that was a d*ck move. I'm sorry. I'm not sure why people can't just tell the truth. It's gonna hurt you no matter what but this was more hurtful. I'm glad they're still going strong and steady but truth be told, this version above all is still the best version of this song. Nayla added a whole layer to all the feelings and adds more depth to the song. The moment she started singing and especially when she sang that phrase "when it got cold". I swear I can feel the power and the impact of the melodies in her voice. This was the golden time of the Lumineers.

And now they broke up....shame, not gonna be the same band, I have no real idea why only speculation but...maybe Nayla's amazing voice should have been premiered more??

@@SPBurt1 It was... early on Watch recordings of early shows and then watch later ones and note the difference Schultz's ego couldn't handle her and it showed over the years as I think she naturally, innocently, upstaged him As I mentioned in another reply, watch Schultz's facial reaction in early shows when they sang "Unnamed/Falling" After she sang her first line after his the crowd would go nuts each and every time (I went to many of their shows) As time went on it actually looked as if he was getting pissed that she would get so much applause I honestly believe that is why he dropped the song from their live shows, it was hurting his ego

But I had enough. I called my supervisor and told him I wanted to go home. Lo and behold, I was home to my family... sadly Andrea (it was her name) passed away this April 25th 2023.. lord knows how much I fucking miss her. Miss her so damn fucking much.
