@@Emanna81 I just love this light, have on my JBJ tank. Thanks for the work you did in this review. I have taken steps to include a ramper, I used a "way2top", there are 4 wires leading to the light, black is negative, I hooked the other 3 together to a dc power dongle, and now have a lamp that ramps in the am to pm. I can still use the lominie remote to set the color parameters, the way2top allows for settings of intensity from 7% in the am to 100% in the afternoon, to a dusk setting in the pm.

I found you in the Amazon review section. Great review on both platforms. I had a question, do you think this light would overkill for a 3g nano tank?
@Emanna814 жыл бұрын
Lol, it would be MORE then enough light! Lol you would just have to turn the settings down and watch the corals for signs of stress such as closed polyps, tissue pressed tight against its skeleton, bleaching, zoas closed up or polyps closed but oral disc still exposed, etc. If you have a par meter that would be your best bet. Make sure to watch ALK. In such a small system, especially if you have a bunch of sps or lps in it. Hope that helps you out a bit.

The bio cube is 20 inches wide by 21 inches front to back and the light sat about 2 feet from the sandy bottom. You could take those readings and apply them to what you will need for the plants. If you are still unsure feel free to reach out to the company they usually answer back pretty quick. Hope that helps you out a bit.

Smaller nano tanks are a little harder then larger tanks. Not trying to scare you. The larger the tank the more of a "buffer" you have in the water to resist change. I am currently running a 10 gallon nano now and find that the alkalinity seems to drop fairly quickly. Don't forgey the weekly water change. It's very important in a nano tank. I am running this light now over a 10 gallon frag tank. Standard dimensions and all my frags are very happy. Do you plan on using the 13.5 as a peninsula set up or mount a light on the side wall.? What corals do you plan on keeping in your tank?
@paulshepperd37556 жыл бұрын
I was hoping to mount the light to the side of my tank i really like the look of the longer strip looking lights almost like an “L” shape the longer part being the led’s And im hoping to just have some soft coral and maybe some lps
@Emanna816 жыл бұрын
@@paulshepperd3755 , when you say the "side" are you refering to the side clear glass or the back filter section? I know it's a peninsula style tank. Thats why I ask. I am a fan of the L shape lights as well but have not found one that is powerful enough.im sure one might be out there. The aqua knight and the pixie 30's arm mount streatches to far to the point if mounted from the clear side wall of the tank it would not be center of the tank and possibly stretch past the tank itself being its a fairly thin tank. I have this over a standard 10 gallon tank and I had to mount it like a lagoon style on the side of the tank and not the back. It works but coral placement should be done wisely due to the lenght of the tank and a single light point.

I have one over a standard 10 gallon tank. The arm raises it to a perfect hight. If you remove the arm and retro fit it to fit in the hood, it might be to close to the water. Hey EZreefin. I got this light for a Pico tank and I have it a 1” 1/2 above the 9” deep tank. Do you know a good brightness setting or light setting for that small and compact tank?
@Emanna813 жыл бұрын
Is the tank less then 10 gallons?what are the demensions? I would try 75% blue / uv chanel and 25% white. And then see how the corals react. If they stay closed for more then a day or 2 I would turn it down from there. If you have low light corals put them on the edges of the tank so you don't shock them. ( leptos, Acans, etc. ) if zoas hide there skirts or stay closed,its usually a sign of too much light, or a pest. So look for those signs as well. It's always tricky when you don't have a PAR meter. Little tricks like those will help you when placing coral.

What light do you think is best the Aqua Knight Led Aquarium Light or the Pixie 30 or any other ones you have tried? Going on 20 NUVO FUSION. thinking about running two.
@Emanna815 жыл бұрын
They are both great lights but both have pros and cons. The aqua knight will do the job and has 3 "pucks" of light which makes more points of light which help eliminate shadows. However they do not produce the spectrum the pixie 30 has. Lol it has one source of light the leds are chip on board with a big lense over top like a kessil which provides a more blended light. I have had the aqua knight for about a year now and had great success if you been following the challenge, that is the light on a IM 10 gal fusion. The pixie 30 is doing great as well. I have it over a 10 gallon frag tank and have sps to softies under it and they are growing great! The aqua knight is 8 5/8 inches wide and the pixie is only 4 inches wide. Im not sure if that helps. But some people like a certain look over a tank. Sorry if I wasn't a great help but like I said each one has pros and cons. I'm just being honest with you.

Each channel controls a set of leds. ( one for whites, blues , uv ,reds greens. Etc.) When you press the channel number and press up or down it seems to drop to the lowest setting. On a standard 10 gallon that it's on now I have the lights on a 12k ( ice blue look) spectrum. The remote is tricky. If you put it on high and try to change the channels, if you notice it seems to drop all the settings(lower the par.) so I dropped the blue down(which if you look carefully you will see the change I mention.) then clicked it all the way up to high then down 1.Then For White I clicked it all the way up to high then kept clicking it down till I got the ice blue (12k) spectrum. Can this light handle a fluval evo 13.5 gallon tank?
@Emanna816 жыл бұрын
The dimensions of the evo is 22x11.5×12.5. The prob. With longer tanks is getting the light spread from a single point light which means multiple lights or raising a single light higher, sacrificing PAR levels. Im not sure on that tank how the back wall is. So im not sure on the mounting part, the light power COULD work but you would have to place corals WISELY to there needs. This light better suits rimless cubes, or larger rimless tanks with multiple lights over it. Have you looked into the current orbit marine pro? It has a wide coverage and built in legs that go over tank. They make one for a 18-24 inch long tank which might be better suited for your needs. I hope this helps you out. Thanks for watching my video!

They you I appreciate the response! I also turned all the channels up on it I have it all turned up manually but I didn’t hit the power all button because I noticed it does make it brighter and I don’t think I need it that bright. (Both are standard 10 gallon tanks from Petco) it all depends on the settings to how big the nano is. You don't want it full blast over a 3 gallon pico. Lol that will be like scorched earth! Lol

@EZreefin I have a 4 foot long and only 18 in high tank. Plan on setting up a basic tank few fish, live rock and maybe a few soft corals. You think if I put one on each side of it and keep what couple soft corals I do get in the middle. Keep in mind that its only 18 in high and I noticed yours you said was almost 2 feet tall.
@Emanna814 жыл бұрын
I believe the 2ft mark was from the light to the sand bed of the 29 gallon biocube. It's been awhile since I did this video. But with that size tank I would just spend the extra couple of dollars and get 2 black boxes or the one 300watt black box version. You should be happier with the results. You can get the nice blue spectrum to make your corals pop. I have a 300watt over my 40 breeder tank with the light around 16 inches from the surface and it's plenty light. It brings out the fishes color as well as coral color. 2 of these lights (Lumini)could work but you would have to put them on full power and it would be more white then anything, which would mute or pale out certain colors. You would also be stuck putting the lights in certain places limiting your aquascaping. Hope this helps.
@bear01184 жыл бұрын
@@Emanna81 black boxes? Also when you say with the Lumni more white will it still have the effect of blue on the corals even though being brighter or just the effect of the corals being healthy? I honestly prefer a white light honestly but I just want what few things I get to be healthy with the lights.
@Emanna814 жыл бұрын
@@bear0118 when you are towards the whiter spectrum 10k, (blue being 20k )you sometimes loose some colors of the coral. It kinda dulls the color if you have them under white lights.You may like the white blue 12k ( I refer to it as a ice blue)you get a great balance of the daylight and coral pop.

How do I set the different settings in the light itself. I have 2 on a 60 gallon live reef tank
@Emanna815 жыл бұрын
You will have to point the remote at the sensor on the ballast and program it from there. Just remember your setting for one and repeat it on the other one to acheive the same spectrum. It should of came with directions to let you know what each channel has on it so you can adjust each one individually.

I’m getting a 20x12x14 Nano and was looking for a light.. would 1 do or 2?
@Emanna815 жыл бұрын
I would use 2. I have 2 over a standard 10 gallon tank now and have successfully grown acros with them. A standard 10 gallon tank is 20 and 1/8 by 10 and 1/8 by 11 and 3/8. I also have another 10 gallon with 1 above it and have been successfully grown lps and softies on the mid and bottom layers as well as sps on a rack close to the surface. It may be a pain to program both lights . I found keeping an aluminium foil over the sensor and programming one then switch to the other one was the easiest way to match the spectrums up. Just remember the settings for the first one! Lol best of luck!

Which size evo? I would def. Try to add some whites to add some PAR if its the 13.5 gal. Version. You might have to have it on high to give good PAR to the bottom. Which in return you would be stuck with a white spectrum instead of a more blue spectrum. Placement would be key as well.
