Lumintop is often times notorious for advertising way more lumens than what they are actually putting out.

Yeah they messed up on this led IMHO, in the near future I plan to swap out both D3 leds.

Thanks for the review of this flashlight. I was kinda interested in the lumintop D3S because I have a couple of unused 26650 but it seems the driver is disappointing. I could buy it for $46.11 (flashlight+26650 tube, no battery, no 26350 tube) so it's not a bad price but with this performance then it's nothing special.

Grab a thrunite catapult v6, I have the original and it's still one of my go to lights. The updated version is meant to be even better.

Have you heard of the G90 Leds...looking for info on them...saw the haikelite HT90 on neals gadgets claiming 20k lumen 1600m of throw ...I have the haikelite ht50 pro with quad g50 leds and it does seem to throw about the same as the l21b sft40 but can't find info on those leds ...saw it was half off during certain times of the year on neals gadgets so I'm considering if the g90s turn out to be a competitor to the sbt90.2

Haikelite ht50 pro impressed me more light and distance than my convoy 3x21a triple sft40s...so if I can snag the HT90 on sale at $110 instead of 220 and those claimed outputs come close then wow

1lumen tested the d3 and it ran close to start up claim.. have you rechecked calibration? Even though I don’t see that being a variable.. seems odd that both lights would be running that low..

Disappointing light. According to the manual it compares with the D3 which means the 5clicks while the light is on turbo. Only rolls it back to high so you get tactical on high not the turbo you can only get after you dial up to high. Its really weird and I really want to be able to hit turbo on one click. Especially in tactical mode.

What is it with you and defective lights.. 4.4v is too high.. either that cell is over charged or that light is defective lol

It gives the light a little extra lumens and the battery is not at 4.4 the ui is tricking the flashlight to think it's got 4.4

Honestly that's what I'm guessing, I don't know the exact science behind it but I do know you get a couple extra lumens and your battery will last longer for emergencies but can damage your battery if you drain it to low.

Lumintop went off. I don't buy them anymore. The first fw1a and fw3a's were good, then they started putting worse drivers and their QC went to shit too.
