LUMIX / ARRI GH7 | The 7 Upgrades

It's just been announced that there is an 8TH FEATURE that I haven't talked about in my video... and that's ARRI LOG C3! This is crazy cool news. I have compared the LUMIX S5IIX to the ARRI Alexa Mini and it took a little while to get the colours to match but I was able to get them really close. Having ARRI LOG C3 (licence sold separately) built into the GH7 is just on another level and really useful on high-end productions.

Hi there, could you please tell me the name of the external monitor you are using, as seen at 6:26 in the video?

This is actually my iPhone 14 Pro Max. It’s connected to the Accsoon SeeMo accessory which converts the HDMI signal from the camera and outputs it to your phone. The benefit of this is that you can record shots directly to your iPhone…. So the video clips you’ve seen in this video where the camera menu pops up over the footage was all recorded to my iPhone using Accsoon SeeMo.

@@masterofcamera Thanks, that's really helpful. Finally, I noticed that 1.2 Gbps is the lowest bitrate for C4K ProRes RAW 25p in your video. I have a 2 TB CFExpress card -- how much record time do you think that would give me for C4K ProRes RAW?

That was a mix of S5IIX and S9 with the LUMIX 18mm f1.8.

Thanks mate, yeah S5II for night shoots and bokeh and GH7 for the slow-mo, 32Bit float and other features. Cool combo. Hopefully some of these new GH features will transfer to their full frame range at some point. Fingers crossed!

Hi do you have a channel or a place I can see what you do when behind the camera? So many talking to the camera videos now. Do you have any videos of you behind the camera shooting footage client or weddings or a short film ? I see some small clips but would like to see a full video of just something shot of you behind the camera and not talking?

You can probably find my old BTS content on my Instagram if you scroll down low enough. I haven’t really uploaded that kind of content here yet but I do have a video coming with more bts of shooting a short series on the s5IIX and Laowa anamorphic zooms.

@@masterofcamera not even BTS content. Just a film or short video you have done. I get why you do talk to the camera content just would like to see what you creat from being behind the camera. Like Brandon Lie will post a short film using a lens or gimbel. But just showing the final finish for those who don't need or want to hear about how a camera or lens. That kind content seems to be fading at the mo. So many camera KZbinrs just want to talk to the camera instead of being behind it

I see what you mean, I do have a website which has some of my client work that I filmed and edited. Music videos, commercials etc. Usually most projects live on clients channels or don’t see the light of day on KZbin. For example I have a series coming out soon but that’s coming to TVNZ OnDemand platform which only can be accessed in New Zealand. @@masterofcamera thanks for understanding. Just like to see how someone films and uses a camera or gimbal to make something. Reason I wanted to get into making videos was watching movies. Like seeing a one shot scene always gets me in awe. I'm inspired by what I see not hear. Will check your webpage out.

I do a lot of hand held pans and movements arount food and drink plus general products. Will the estabalisation or normal stabilisation in the GH7 be beneficial to my type of work. PS I don't want to carry or use gimbals.

The GH7 or the GH6 have very good IBS. The new firmware update in the S5ii/x also have amaizng IBS.

It really depends on the speed of the pans, if it’s slower e stabilisation might actually work pretty well but if you do fast pans or parallax shots you might experience the e-stabilisation catching up to the movement. You can play around with its Hight, Standard or off mode depending on the movement. But in general if you’re filming a lot of handheld shots, LUMIX Stabilisation is the best you can get, definitely recommend it! 🎥👍
