The poor girl, that must have been uncomfortable to live with sitting on her ear like that. You did a great job Saskia, that's such a difficult area to even try to clean (I have 2 texels and 1 rex) I can only imagine how difficult it would be to squeeze. She's also such a pretty pig!

Hi Saskia, this is an off topic question. Recently my husband and I rescued a small female guinea pig. It's hard to tell her age, but by size and nail appearance, I would guess her to be under a year old. We also have a male guinea pig about 2 and a half years old. Ernest T and Oreo is the female. We would like have have her spayed, so that they can be cage mates eventually. My question, is if you can recommend a good vet around the La Habra area. We religiously watch your videos and trust you 100%.. God Bless You

My piggie Luna has had a couple of 1/8” little cysts along the edge of one ear, I can’t remember if it’s in the same spot every time. I just squeeze it out, which she hates, but tolerated it.

OMG I didn't even notice. I took video on the same day of a guinea pig infested with orangy walking mites. I was giving her a haircut when I noticed. We changed the table cloth, I changed my clothing but there it is. I ran to the pig room after I read your comment and checked them all with my light and magnifying lamp and am pleased to say I did not find anything. Ivermectin treatments all around right now!!

I know this is unrelated but I recently decided to adopt a guinea pig that was going to be returned to a pet store, its been over 2 weeks now and she's okay with roaming around the cage but she absolutely cannot stand when i try and pick her up. I tried to do the technique where i dont let her go until she calms down but i dont know how tight i can hold her without hurting her. when i hold her she always wiggles away and makes noises like I have murdered her entire family or something. I feel terrible.

Do cysts ever go away on their own and then come back? I’m trying to figure out what my pig has. I would assume if it was a tumor it wouldn't disappear and then come back right? Or could it? I really don't know what to do. I don't have the money to keep taking him to the vet but I don't want him to suffer. I've already spent hundreds on him and now they want to do a biopsy for an outrageous price. He’s had white eye discharge that after several visits they have been unable to properly diagnose because nothing we tried worked and now this. I feel so bad. My other pig never had any issues.

Someone please tell me that this is a good routine !!! First I give them a pea flake. Then bowl of pellets (or a cucumber peace! I don't know! What's best?) For dinner he would get half a carrot, a peace of pepper and a little more cucumber! (And maybe 1 salad peace if you know what I mean, but should I take away some food and give them salad instead? Pls help) And that's it (they'll have hay and water too of course! This is a routine for 1 gunnies pig! (I haven't had sea / him yet)

No offense to Saskia but I think I would take my guinea pig to have a lump removed from there ear whether it is a cyst or a tumor. A cyst can grow back if the sack in them is not removed and I would be worried about hurting their eardrum by pushing on it.

Please tell me where I can get that cordless clippers/shaver (not sure what it’s called)? I have a special needs bunny that needs the fur on her bottom trimmed regularly and that would be much easier and less traumatic than using scissors (and safer too!).

You should be able to get a suitable clipper from a grooming or veterinary supply catalog. I find surgical blades are the best to use for a close shave that doesn't cut the skin. Use lots of cooling spray on the clippers, as they get hot when cutting. You can check their temperature by touching the blades to the inside of your wrist.
