I’m not a Jew, I’m an African. My spiritual home is not Jerusalem or Mecca, but Africa. African culture is paramount to me. Africa is my origin, and I’m proud of it. I won’t run away from myself, instead, I will embrace my roots.

Who named Africa "Africa" and what does the word "Africa" mean? Curiously curious, I've been searching
@tojwilliams

@@martinthabang9621It was said that the Romans coined the word "Africa". Reasons behind this vary, but one of the original names of Africa, Alkebulan, meant "Garden of Eden", or "Mother of all Living".

It seems there is this peculiar mindset that suggests Africans are not to be accepted as AFRICANS unless they are somehow shown to be strictly of Jewish or Hebrew descent...very distorted reasoning.
@josephkiio7863
@josephkiio7863 Жыл бұрын
@@martinthabang9621 The name "Africa" is believed to have originated from the ancient Romans. It is commonly thought to have been derived from the Latin word "Africus," which means "sunny" or "sunny side of the earth." Another theory is that it comes from the Phoenician word "afar," meaning dust, or the Greek word "aphrike," which means "without cold." The exact origins of the name are not definitively known, but it has been used for thousands of years to refer to the continent of Africa.

Religion is a business of lies, politics, economics. The problem with our people Baba is that we are empty, therefore easily convinced, so we're craving our original spiritual expression of which has been suppressed and oppressed out of us as a result of colonialism. We have forgotten our inheritance which is passed on to us via oral tradition. It was disrupted and continues to be. We are distracted to survive and that's when religion ushers us in with a forked tongue, feeding off our need to be cared for and supported. When we succumb, because it's our nature to believe in the word, (not sure if that's ignorance, naivety or culture), we find ourselves in Shakakola situations or land taken situations or artifacts stolen and sold for millions situations or children kidnapped or adopted or molested situations or family split situations or cutting sacred trees and littering sacred rivers because we no longer believe nature is our spiritual home. Our life force depends on it. This is coming from a person who grew up in Luanda area of Kenya and who's father is of the Yoruba lineage. Thank you for your wisdom Baba. Our elders are few a far with courage and wisdom to speak these days.

I am always looking for channels that will actually teach me. This is certainly one. I am a 77-year-old white man from Texas, who has six black godchildren I helped raise. All are today successful adults here in the USA. To my point, two of my children are gay/lesbian, and very centered and happy in their lives. I am very puzzled by Professor Lumumba's stance in support of anti-LGBTQ laws recently passed in several African nations that are very much in the news today. With the Prof's very world perspective on so many topics, particularly religion, I am sure he is very aware of much information proving "gayness" was as much a part of pre-colonial tribal Africa as it was throughout all civilizations, likely since Homo sapiens were upright. We are part of nature, and such relations can be observed throughout nature. Nature is a spectrum, and humans also are. We cannot be placed in binary logic. We are part of the quantum universe and all things are possible and do occur, and all are "god's creation." My two children would have been the same regardless of where born. I shudder at the thought that people like them are now being so suppressed, attacked, humiliated, maimed, and murdered and now locked up and put to death for just being who they are. This is no better than the Salem witch trials where women were burned alive! Surely Africa is better than this. The "gays" are the cream of the milk as to creativity, and Africa is driving away and oppressing the very ones who best could lead Africa into a new condition of joy and prosperity. Europeans did NOT bring homosexuality to Africa. What was brought is the cult religion of Christianity and all its perversions, the churches and preachers ripping off the masses, and dividing the "gays" so there is a lever to pull to control the masses with a common purpose of hate. Christ is not supposed to be about hate. Now here in the States, we are also fighting this "evilgelical" power, large orgs that capitalize for political fascist reasons to use their un-taxed wealth to drive politics in Africa, especially in Uganda. So be aware of these wolves in sheep's skins! Until Africans shake off the wolves and use their minds, progress will be slow. I love my two gay children and I can only pray that wisdom overcomes the ignorance that threatens our US democracy presently and threatens the future of Africa. Thank you. I will continue to watch the Prof's lectures and learn, but I always listen with own my heart and mind.

It is good PLO has brought to light the difference between 'religion' and 'spirituality'. The pain, however, is that the majority of those who are caught in the charlatanism of those claiming to be God's henchmen, shall not abate. Knowing the distinction doesn't make one spiritual; despite the fact that this is one's essential nature.

Jehovah aka Yahweh aka YHVH was a storm god in competition with similar gods in the Levant. In one instance, Yahweh, in a rage, wants to kill Moses because he is uncircumcised. Zipporah, Moses' wife, knew how to trick Yahweh - after all her father, Jethro, was Yahweh's priest. She quickly circumcised their son, and touched Moses' "leg". In the Bible, "leg" is a euphemism for the male organ. When Yahweh saw the blood on Moses' organ, he relented. One might ask why Yahweh asks Moses to hide in a rock cleft so that Yahweh's glory won't kill Moses. How comes the rock can do what Yahweh can't? See how the competition plays out when Elijah (Yahweh's agent) challenges Ba'al's agents to a sacrifice duel. At the end of Elijah's sacrifice, Yahweh 'licked up the water' implying Yahweh is a creature with something like a tongue. Notice how Yahweh says, "I'm a jealous god." One is only jealous when they lack something. How can God be jealous? In African communities, our name for God is descriptive - like all-seeing one, or the source of everything to every creature, etc. The gods of the Levant (Yahweh, Ba'al, Allah, etc) are not almighty or all-knowing or omnipotent or omnipresent. Perhaps that is why they allow us humans to fight and kill for them? One usually fights for the weaker person.
