Editing this helped me a lot during some really hard times this year. When I got ED or self-harm related thoughts I'd go do this or one of my sea mechanic/yumagna fics and it would distract me. And I'm kind of proud of the fact that I haven't relapsed for 9 months now, even though this has been such a bad year for me mentally and physically. So this edit is special to me because of that.
This song made me think of Luna. A nightblood's destiny is the conclave and, following that, death or ascension to the role of commander. They spend their whole lives waiting and training for this moment. One of the most tragic things about Luna's ending was that after all she did to escape this and form her own destiny, she ended up right back there.
I find it really hard to believe that she could change that drastically so quickly. She was the kind of person who took the pain and darkness that life had given her and transformed it into light, into putting good things back into the world and I loved that about her. That she broke the stereotype of 'hurt people hurt people'. Because whilst that can be true, many people who have been hurt become some of the kindest people imaginable and do what they can to help instead of hurt others. And I don't know, I struggle to believe that someone who had that kind of mindset and empathy would do the things she did in her last episode. I can suspend belief and rationalize her actions and how she might have come to think that way and do those things (at least for the purpose of writing fanfic) but I still don't think it was true to her. She deserved better.
And Octavia's line about her not deserving to be saved is particularly cruel and unnecessary after everything Luna had done to help people. I'm not sure why that to put that in. Like she was already dying did Octavia really have to twist the knife like that?

Luna is so cool, she fits perfect in her role. She lost everything and wanted peace so much. Her Look and her voice make me goosebumbs.

Luna was and still is my favorite. I love it that she was very reluctant to fight, but was so naturally bad ass at it. I was sooo upset by the way the killed her character. Lazy writing. She deserved so much better. Thank you for this tribute

This is AMAZING!I really loved her character on the show. I think she had so much potential. I totally agree I found it kinda hard to believe in her drastic change of character. I think that in the end, the only explanation is that her tribe helped to represent and remind her of the 'good' still left on earth. With the tribes death her belief in humanity died with them. I think this helped fuel her long buried anger at the 'rest of humanity', and reminded her of the 'ugly' side of humanity shown throughout her younger years. Your editing is so captivating

Yeah I agree with that. I think also what the sky people did to her was more traumatic than they realised. It was physical assault and the they took away her ability to choose (and she’s pointed out in the past how much she values choice) and forced her to participate in a situation that could kill someone, just like she was forced as a child to kill. And all because of her blood. The world kept reducing her to nothing more than her blood, so she decided that was all she was going to be. Her blood meant that she was supposed to kill and participate in the conclave, so she did. I think she lost hope that she could escape that fate, and that there was more to humanity than violence and killing. The only way to stop the cycle from continuing, was for humanity to die.
