This was one of my favorite shows in the 90's. Loved the live performances!

Check out ACETONE. Another great American group that flew under the radar in the 90's. Checkout their album CINDY.

So good, base your friendships on how they feel about luna, and Galaxie 500. It's a good baseline

My favorite Luna album is days of our nights but this is a classic
@jamesalan34502 жыл бұрын
Same here. This is off a great album (Bewitched) but I put Days of our Nights just above it in my Luna album rankings. Dean wasn't the most charismatic fellow on stage but he is a great songwriter and musician.

what a great find! just recently started listening to luna and had only seen live the more recent performances after the reunion. amazing to see younger them

I followed Luna all the way through. Every album was wonderful. Bewitched was sublime, and my favorite. Saw them live at the Middle East in Cambridge, and will never forget it. Dean (Wareham) has a memoir out that is impeccably written, and rival's Morrissey's recent autobiography in its sincerity and erudite presentation. Don't miss the documentary of their farewell tour, Tell Me Do You Love Me.

Black Postcards is the name of the book. Read it last winter. Like Luna's performances the memoir is understated and erudite, but it's also a eulogy for DIY rock n roll. When music is basically free and videography is valued over musicianship, it's almost impossible for a working band like Luna to make a living.

they are great and you recognized it from the start.

I interviewed the band in Toronto one time -- all great dudes to drink and shoot the shit with. Stanley Demeski is one of my favorite drummers of all time, and he and I hit it off right away because I happened to be wearing the "Wanted: Lou Reed" dyed blonde picture of Lou from an infamous issue of CREEM magazine, pressed onto a t-shirt. The other guys in Luna said, "Oh, you have to show that to Stanley, he is a huge CREEM fan and collector." Stan indeed loved the t-shirt, which brightened his mood that day. We all started drinking and gossiping about Bowie and Lou Reed, and had a good time. Stan looked over at me in the front row when he did a subtle, but very nifty, drum fill during the show, and we both had big grins on our faces. Yeah, I caught that, Stan! Loved that band. The article I did on them for (pre-Pitchfork) Addicted To Noise got a lot of positive feedback, too. Love to all the guys from that era of Luna -- including Sean, my fellow Canadian!

Saw the Bewitched tour, they opened for Cocteau Twins at the Paramount in Seattle. Still remember how great this song was on that evening, in that hall. Magical sounds.

Wish this group had lasted, had more muses to listen to throughout our time, and more INFLUENTIAL credit as a 90's alternative fixture. I guess ... I feel this was an integral part of the ALTERNATIVE experience which defined a period musical evolution. KUDOS. BTW I am a hedge hog, perhaps ;)
